It was my first time attending annd I loved it. I came home with a lovely pair of framed hummingbird prints.

I love that first picture. One of my dreams for my house is to eventually have a tiny little greenhouse in the backyard.

I'm a relative beginner in the garden (but very enthusiastic) so I'll be hoping for some basic how-to posts now and then. I have a couple of gardening books that are really useful, but sometimes don't go into much detail in terms of step-by-step instructions.

I didn't make much progress on the Spring Cure and I'm a lot more optimistic about this.

Keep a list on your fridge door, listing the food inside that's on its last legs and needs to be used up first. It's a good way to keep track of what you have, and helps avoid wasting half a gross old tomato that got shoved to the back and forgotten about.

I love this post. That staircase is gorgeous! I love the idea of framing poetry but I think I'd want to change it often so something that permanent would be a but daunting.

I do have a couple of verses framed on my bedroom wall; it's the reading we had at our wedding, in two different languages. I had a calligrapher do them for me, and had them framed as an anniversary gift to my husband.

Another vote for Yesterday's News! It's great.

Is There a Good, Eco Friendly Cat Litter?
Good Questions

Echoing trackbike: scoop the litter regularly. We scoop every time our cat uses her box (as soon as we notice, anyway), and we rarely have lingering odour. We also use 'Yesterday's News' litter (made from recycled newspaper) and it absorbs the smell really well.

My man tends to be indecisive and put off decisions about decor forever. I'll often wait until he's at work to do some rearranging or hang a picture where I want it, etc.

We won't buy anything for the house without both agreeing to it first, though.

Yep, I love the 'after'. Those cabinets are just lovely. Putting a nice inexpensive rug down could help disguise the floor but I don't hate the flooring so it wouldn't bother me.

This Old House

Oh man, this is me. I'm embarrassed to say how long we've lived in our new house and not one item is hung on the wall, not one paint colour chosen. It's a combination of finances, being really busy, and feeling paralyzed by too many options.

The good thing is that it's really allowing us to get a sense of exactly what we use each room for, before we start spending money.

My house has one element I can't stand: popcorn ceilings. They're ugly and uneven, and make the rooms look small and the ceiling dirty. They are throughout the whole main level, except the kitchen, but it's not in our budget to have them redone.

I love the bedroom! But I'm always intrigued when I see artwork hung low above the bed like that - doesn't it get in the way when you want to sit up in bed?

Ha! The previous owners of our new house left one of these behind when they moved out. It's similar to the red one, but has a gated verandah out front (and, since it's for outdoor use, it is much more weathered and used-looking). Since we don't have a dog, we put it on Craigslist and the response has been a bit amazing. I never expected that so many people would want one.

I'm joining. My husband and I have been in our first home for a few months now and we're still very disorganized, unfocused, and completely overwhelmed. To start with I'm going to concentrate on getting the bedroom the way we want it, because I really want us to have somewhere restful to spend our nights. But at the same time, I'll be working on a whole house deep-clean, mainly for organization and decluttering purposes.

I got the book at the library this week and I'm inspired already!
