Miss Ruth: Me too! I have a relation by marriage with the last name "Mager" who was a major, so he would be addressed as "Major Major" on a regular basis by those who did not know it was pronounced with a hard "g" -- cracked him up (although obviously he saved the cracking up part for later -- I suppose nothing undermines your military authority like laughing about mispronunciations!). 2012's Most Popular Baby Names |

Loove that bowl, and I would enjoy having a nose pull on one drawer somewhere to amuse my nephews. Ok, and to amuse me. Ok, mostly me. Funky, Odd & Funny Finds from Milan Design Week |

Love the wood re-use, especially the bench in the entry. I've never tackled anything like that, and it's inspiring to see it done so well. Victor & Adrienne's DIY Cabin in the Sky House Tour |

You might be better off removing the stone for structural reasons as well. A friend had stone veneer on her home, and had to have it removed because the weight was basically pulling the front off of her house. That house wasn't as solid-looking as yours, but something to consider. Can I Paint Over Exterior Stone Veneer? Good Questions |

We have one, going on its fourth year, also in Minnesota. It's treated lumber, but it sits on concrete footers (piers are they called?) and we graded and added drain tile before building. Four years isn't long, but it shows no sign of decline. So with adequate drainage and footings, I think the idea is good to go! (We do also have brick/stone patios -- the low deck gives another level to the yard.) Low Wooden Decks: Yea or Nay? |

I used to live in Hull, and I'm tickled that it is the source for your fabulous pink bathroom suite! Your home improvement road trip reminds me of a joke: A man is driving into Hull for [tools, pink bathroom suites, whatever DIY] and he pulls over to ask a pedestrian for help. "Excuse me, but is there a B&Q in Hull?" The pedestrian: "No, but there are two Ls." Sophie & Nick's Colorful Victorian Townhouse House Tour |

I've been searching for a 12-drawer model for a while, and think we've found a winner (albeit one that needs finishing and different drawer knobs) at Gothic Cabinet Craft: http://www.gothiccabinetcraft.com/storage-bed-12-drawers-on-glides-queen/ Best Storage Beds 2013 Apartment Therapy's Annual Guide |

lauren.fitting: I think this looks great, but I could not give up upper cabinets either. I've got a tiny kitchen, and accordingly not all that much Stuff, but I still don't know where I'd put all the stuff I do have without the upper cabinets. On finials: I find that those spongey fake corks are better than real cork for supporting screw-in finials on conduit curtain rods -- you have to whittle them down a bit, but they work great! http://www.dohiy.com/2013/01/21/double-curtain-rods-at-a-fifth-the-price/ How To Make Curtain Rods from Conduit Apartment Therapy Tutorials |
