It's a slim slice of the community pie that knows Xbox 360s support downloadable music and movies. Sadly, a large percentage of the Xbox-owning community is aware you can play DVDs on the thing, even fewer that an HDDVD drive is available for it.
A few more shockers: You can alter the soundtrack to your games, the ps3 doesn't have that kind of clout. And why do Ps3 ports of Xbox games look so awful? Two reasons, actually. Blu-ray is better for storage and worse for data retrieval, and the Xbox 360 has roughly twice the fill-rate as the PS3. That means twice as many pixels on the screen at any given moment. This means developers for the Sony platform have to compensate with all kinds of pixel shaders and what amounts to kind of a blurry make-up in order to operate at the same speed.
I'm no fanboy. I'm a hater-hater. I love my ps3. This begs the question of how I know so much about the Xbox 360. The answer is simple. Videogames bring stars to my eyes. They cause my wallet to open, and my dollar bills to float out and upward on currents of pure childish glee. I am the truest guitar hero, I am the savior of more universes than can be counted.
Gadgetry is a source of great sadness in the land of my credit cards. When I walk by the shelves of Best Buy imacs and the new Dell One and every videogame hops up and follows me, like Snow Whites Dwarves, to the entrance, scooting their cute little bottoms across the laser scanner and through the trickery of woodland critters convince my credit card to do the same.
I am not a poor man, I can indulge these occasional urges, but somehow the Xbox has escaped me. Too much developing technology came along and I somehow missed that boat. Well here I stand now, AT, at the shores of your mercy, and from the stern of the great and beautiful SS 360 many lovely maids are waiving their Marimekko scarves to this abandoned passenger. That is the ship of your mercy, AT, and I know that from its helm you can hear me weeping.
