I bought one a couple of months ago and it is not easy to use although the results can be adorable. The plastic does not cut sharply enough to make the lattice separate cleanly. I bought this one from Surprise Surprise in the darker veneer and while it's not sexy, it's supremely functional for quickly transforming my livingroom into a diningroom for dinner parties: http://www.surprisesurprise.com/n/index.php/default/5-boroughs-only/gate-leg-table.html I like how the chairs are tucked away inside and when not in use, it doubles as a shelf for plants and photos as well as a sort of radiator shield. I am surprised by how much I like this. It would be perfect in an airy kitchen or dining room. And it would be the perfect answer to my wanton desire to purchase random plates from the Anthropologie sale section. I have the same issue and just recently solved it by purchasing this gate leg table from Surprise Surprise: http://www.surprisesurprise.com/products/Gate_Leg_Table.328.html (It looks better in the darker finish.)
