I found a small amount of mold on some of the baseboards in my apartment this morning. This isn't that surprising because it is a 1930s building with cold walls with little to no insulation and 2000s windows that close in the humidity during the winter. I try to keep the window cracked in the bathroom and I have a dehumidifier I run every few days. I took some mold and mildew shower cleaner and sprayed down the offending baseboard and plan to scrub and rinse it later tonight. Does anyone have any other ideas for remedying the situation? Until recently I also kept the alarm clock in the bathroom. I couldn't reach it there and it's also more centrally located so that I could listen to NPR throughout the apartment. I had to move it back to my room when I got a roommate though. It seemed rude to wake her up too. How not to get up in the morning: while reaching for the snooze button (due to an incident with an annoying flying squirrel that keeps me awake) attempt to brace yourself on the edge of the bed while reaching for the alarm clock, but miss the edge of the bed and fall out of bed head first while scraping the inside of your arm. I did this yesterday. It was the start to a very bad day. I love this house tour! It's nice to see a space in progress rather than completely polished. I love the space too. I also have lots of plants and I'm envious of the great window sills and mantel for them. Mine are cluttering up my dining table and any other flat space. I also chose to put my bed in the smallest room (although not that small) because I figure I'm just going to sleep in there. Since I've taken a roommate, it is now crazy cramped with furniture I had to move out of the bigger room, but it was still the right decision for me. Where do you buy whole cloves? I love this idea and seem to remember hearing that it also makes a good moth repellent, but I don't know where to get the cloves. Would most grocery stores have them? I'm getting a roommate after 9 years of living alone. This will be a major adjustment, but I moved into a two bedroom co-op six months ago and at the time I looked at it as insurance. The two bedroom is only $100 more than my previous one bedroom and I can rent out the other room for more than half of my monthly expenses and it will still be a good deal for the renter. I like the look of this, but with two cats who sleep with me, I'm afraid that it would get cat fur stuck in the pleats and look shabby quickly.
