When can I move in? I especially love the orange lamp/chandelier in the dining room (a Panton piece, I think you mentioned.)

They really are timeless classics that transcend trends and work well with any style of furniture. I'm a huge fan of the Oriental rug plus modern furniture pairing and use it in my own home; plus they're gorgeous and hardwearing, what could be a better investment?

This is ace. I especially love the neon installations.

The pottery shown in the first pic is vintage West-German pottery, which I collect (and love chronicling on my blog.) Vintage pottery is such an interesting and often affordable way to inject personality into one's home and a very interesting collecting field. Thanks for this post!

Lovely post. I have inherited my grandparents' 1960s teak furniture and think of them every day as we use and enjoy it so many years after they bought it as a young family. I also think incorporating little things, such as the needlepoint you mention, is an important nod to the people who mean a lot to us, even if it doesn't immediately fit in with whatever look we're aspiring to.

I love the history of this little house, thanks for the tour and for including the original advert! You have done a lovely, classy job of decorating the inside too.

Fantastic home and the best use of orange I have seen used throughout a house.

I absolutely love our teak coffee table--inherited from my grandparents. Something that still looks beautiful and is still solidly functional after almost 50 years isn't a trend, it's a classic.

I'm wondering if those lightbulb terrariums won't turn into a mouldy mess?

Haha, speck, that's a great & honest answer.

Mine currently says that I have a nasty cold (tissues, cough drops, huge mug of tea), that I like to read in bed (reading lamp, pile of books and magazines) and that I'm a bit cheesy (little snowglobe with photo from our wedding inside.) I keep all the other stuff (hand cream, notebook, pen, nail file) stuffed into the drawer compartments of the little Componibili I use as a bedside table.

I prefer the walnut. It doesn't appear to be available in Europe though, which is probably all for the best as it is somewhat over budget for a coat rack.

Cute place with lots of interesting objects. Also, we appear to have the same cat ;-)

I appreciate seeing small living spaces here.

I think the room pictured in the last image is still classic and lovely, and I don't find the stills of the Griswolds' house atrocious either. I was a child in the 1980s and remember plenty of trends from that time which I find hideous now, but it was certainly not all awful and, just like today, there were people who did country style tastefully and others who didn't.
