I echo hgenti's comment...that's exactly what I thought. All Grown Up: Mobiles for Adults |

My bed is 30+ years old (hand-down from the parents) and requires a box spring. I would prefer a newer platform bed but am in the process of replacing all of my apartment furniture and can only afford one or two new things at a time...but I'll get there eventually. So I'll be happy to know what the outcome of this survey is so when I do finally get a new bed I'll know whether or not to invest in a box spring. :) Do You Own a Box Spring? Reader Survey |

LG Kompressor...I bought the Luv300B. I love the cannister compressor...less emptying and less messy than all the other bagless vacuums I've used. And the built in wand is perfect for pet cleanup. It's wonderful. Reader Roundup: The Best Vacuum? |

I prefer the paler/brighter greens for this look over the darker/deeper greens...but that's just my personal taste. Crisp Color Combo: Deep Green + Pale Gray |

I'm in a similar situation...I like my apartment, but the building itself is not so great. It's just an old, unattractive building. But the area is tops, my neighbors are nice, and the managers are great. And my apartment has the largest balcony I have ever seen. I often go back and forth about whether to stay or leave, but so far I have yet to find a place (in my price range) that is attractive enough to make me move. There are a lot of factors to consider...sometimes it's worth overlooking some less than ideal cosmetics but other times, it could be disaster. Each situation is unique. I can. My great-grandmother taught me how. It's definitely an art that is mastered only with practice and patience. Can You Fold a Fitted Sheet? Callalillie |

I like them as they are, but it's completely up to you...your personal style, taste, and what would look well with the rest of your decor. Maybe you could try living with for a while as they are, and then if you change your mind you can always paint them later. But, if you go ahead and paint them now, that obviously can't be undone. :) Should I Paint Vintage Arne Jacobsen Ant Chairs? Good Questions |

I agree with knoxkatie - while I see the interesting creativity in this idea, the thought of placing books in a fireplace incites anxiety. Books are just too precious to me. Creative Storage: Books in the Fireplace |

My stepfather is a carpenter and he has said that the best way to care for natural wood, especially butcher blocks, cutting boards, etc., is with mineral oil. Many people like to use olive/vegetable oils, but over time those oils will "sour" and ruin the wood. Butcher Block Maintenance in 4 Easy Steps HouseTweaking |

For large loads of dishes, I think dishwashers are much more efficient than washing by hand, especially the newer machines. However, living by myself and usually cooking for one, it's more efficient, and convenient, for me to wash my dishes by hand. The dishwasher in my apartment is used to store my tupperware and oversized pots and pans. Dishwashers: Kitchen Saviour or Waste of a Cupboard? Melbourne | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |
