Wow! That sounds like the life :) My wife has been running a successful art school that is growing like gang busters and we're thinking of the same sort of lifestyle. I currently am a software engineer, but my income will be "optional" by the end of this year along our current projections. We plan on taking our first 3 month "hiatus" beginning this year and leaving her art school in the hands of our trusted teachers. We test drove this just recently by taking days off together (a rarity these days) and during a 3 week vacation to Thailand. Anyway, good luck and I look forward to reading about your experiences! I used to be a hardcore planner, but now I'm in between. The awakening happened in London this past March. My wife and I had the absolute best day ever without planning nary a minute. It was serendipitous over and over again and what made it better was that I didn't have to stress about it for weeks to make sure it was just right. Everything just happened. Now, I try to be a hybrid planner....I bring some maps and an internet connected device for emergency surfing, but for the most part, we just kinda go and see what happens. We live in the UC Village in Albany, CA (next door to Berkeley) and every year they bring in goats to clear the area around the little creek that separates Berkeley and Albany. The goats are GREAT! They're funny, friendly, and great for kids. Plus there's no heavy machinery or any noise (other than nonstop goat chomping which is rather entertaining). We have "helped" the goats by cutting some of the stalks and just feeding the stalks to them...it's like interactive man.... I agree with the indoor start. Gotta get some girth on the stalks before you let your little seedlings out in the wild. We have a garden at the UC Village in Albany and everything was started at home in little pots first. After they grow to about 4 or 5 inches tall, then we take them outside. It would be cool to have something like this with an extended handle and another set in slipper form so you can shuffle around and clean up after your rabbits Apartment Therapy - Sweepa Rubber Broom |
