Love to see my AT handle's colors represented together in the last photo, as they should be. :)

What color/brand is the peachy pink in #9? Anyone know?

I dig that first kitchen and bedroom. Love the bold stuff. The collage is pretty but too safe for me.

XLILX, love the floral chairs. What color are your walls going to be? Looking forward to seeing more photos. :)

Just last night while waiting for our train, my husband and I saw a giant rat on the subway platform, which is a bit unusual, as they keep mostly to the tracks. We watched as it brazenly sauntered up to sniff the shoe of a man standing there unaware. We and several others shouted at the man to warn him and he was amazingly unfazed when he saw it so close to his foot. The rat scampered away, down into the tunnel. Can you see that in a small town? I think not! :) Still, I love being car-free. (But gosh I love to get out of town to the country sometimes!)

Raymondleggs, you would have probably had a conniption at my rock musical wedding. :) I bought a bunch of old records off CL, sprayed 'em silver and used them as chargers under my plates! (I kept the center label intact, because I tried to tailor each record to each guest.) And the cover of my guest book was made out of an old vinyl LP.

I love this little table here. Great idea!

It's Wednesday morning and I'm back to look at the Tuesday Kitteh Cuteness. That lil grey guy cracks me up - he knows how bad he is.

@SlopeGirl - cool idea, and I agree about the "eat", lol.

Seems to me those who are horrified by these photos are kinda missing the point. As PixieDust so aptly put it: "Kittehs don't always follow the house rules."

I agree the super pink shower tiles do not jive with the vintage peachy-pink and black tiles, and question if those super pinks really are original, or if they were a past reno that tried (and failed) to match the peachy-pink tiles and/or mimic a Mamie vibe.

However, the after is just sadly sterile, IMO. I would have at least kept the peach tiles and the floor tiles. But, to each his own.

@ Favorite Planet - I'm with you in that I'm not a fan of the sterile surgical look.

In my imaginary kitchen (in my imaginary giant loft apartment that I owned), I'd go with a replication of my actual NYC subway stop - white tile, dirty dark grout, with the name of my stop in a mosaic tile design. No graffiti, though.

Amazing post, photos and (almost) finished transformation! I'm a fan of the white subway tile, so I look forward to your updates. I think the dark countertops idea will work with your future farmhouse table.

Personally, I love those chairs, but they probably won't work with your future farmhouse table, so I'll take them off your hands when the time comes. ;)

Amen, brother Bee For!

Aqualime will always love these colors! But will Aqualime ever be able to afford them for her dream kitchen? Sigh.

When I saw this post I flipped. What's up, Doc? is one of my all time favorite films. I love the fact that Joan Cusack 1) has a store and 2) named it Judy Maxwell Home. I probably can't afford any of the items, however my home is already decorated with a whole bunch of similar wacky things that I've collected over the years. But JMH is now my #1 thing to check out next time I'm in Chicago!

Diana - you are a girl after my own heart. Over the years I have collected pieces of furniture and artwork from all the same places you mentioned. Happily, my husband shares my aesthetic and our "tiny" is filled with much of my own (and some of his) treasures from those years, along with 'new' things we have found together from the usual haunts. We wanted to enter Small Cool this year, but we just moved into our place in February and it's still coming together. One of these days, though.

Maybe you should try hanging a paint-by-number of your dream dude on your wall -- if it worked for finding George...

p.s. My 2 favorite colors are Jamaican Aqua and Limelight, but I also love pink! What is the name of your pink? It's terrific.

Seeing your exposed brick apartment took me right back to my old east village apartment, but that's not the reason I love-love-love your place! It is creative and cool without being too designery, and it hit me with a such a good feeling that I favorited it right away. I adore your color choices (as you can tell by my moniker, lime is a favorite color of mine) and artwork (especially the Boston T paint-by-numbers). I can relate to your excitement over finding those green chairs at a flea market! All in all, I love the creative way you put everything together. And your hand-drawn & colored floor plan is just the cutest thing. I hope you and George win!
