Oh my gosh! An AT post with a work-in-progress home, pre-clean & pre-organization?? Be still my heart! I *LOVE* this post for its honesty [not to mention its chinchilla]. Let's face it, we all love seeing gorgeous homes in perfect lighting, but the vast majority of us face the same issues presented here. Thank you so much for making such a down to earth post. I look forward to the "after"! Carolyn's January Cure: My First Week January Cure Diaries |

Tbh, I actually stopped reading AT for several months because I was just tired of the comments. I'm a community manager for a popular social gaming site so I'd prefer my leisure reading to not be such a downer on top of my regular work. I really appreciate the sentiments in this post, regardless of the author's example of her own DIY project. 5 Things to Take Away from Any DIY Project Post (Even If You Don't Love It) |

Wait I don't get how simplifying your life means selling your perfectly fine collection of one thing to purchase an atrociously priced collection of something else that you use everyday and your child will likely break. Since you seem to have a young family, I say pack it all up and put it in storage or entrust it to a friend with a larger home. Would You Sell One Treasure to Buy Another? |

Thank god I didn't end up going to Target today to pick up detergent! I <3 Target but I REALLY do not understand the hype at all...why would you want to decorate your home with something that your 10 friends just bought? Especially in such a loud and obvious way. @kmancha: while I do agree with the basic principles of your post, and that researching and generally being aware of store policies and business standards is very important for all consumers, it is just not realistic for some Americans. The advice here is outstanding. I, too, have been wanting to learn how to sew and get a machine but I live in a small studio. I know I will be looking into some of the pieces mentioned here, thanks all! Best Small-Space Sewing Machine? Good Questions |

I agree with the others on TJ's produce...it's shockingly bad at my local one, even though I'm in the Bay Area, and therefore close to good produce. Fortunately it's across the street from our WF. Inside the Secret World Of Trader Joe's Fortune |

Maybe I haven't lived long enough to consider this purchase 'adult', but last July 4th, I bought a 32" flat screen TV. Iit was the first new/nice item I bought as an adult, with a real job, for my own non-shared apartment. It was a big deal because we never bought new furniture/tvs/anything growing up [always second hand], so I definitely had that 'wow, did I just do that?' feeling. I was 22. How Old Were You?
