My husband cooks and I clean.
I'm the slowest dish washer in the world. It takes me forever to wash and rinse every bit of soap off the dish. To solve this (and to conserve water) I got a countertop dishwasher for our small kitchen. The dishes go in while the pots and pans are in the sink getting prewashed by the discharge. After the wash cycle is finished I wash the pots and pans by hand. I also use that time listening to the radio to catch up on the day's news.
It's so nice to wake up to a clean kitchen.

Wow, been there just 6 months? You've accomplished a lot. I've been in my apartment for a year and still living with paint samples taped to the walls. I love what you did with a very tiny bedroom, the colors that you used there and in the kitchen are fabulous!

Love it. It has that laid back Santa Monica vibe.
The photo of bird house with kids & pool in the background is cool.

I live in a noisy apartment building. Our apartment is on the ground floor and people coming and going in and out, up and down the stairs is quite noisy. Our side of the wall that shares the hall is lined with three Ikea bookcases filled with books. These act as insulation and a barrier to sound. I've always collected books and my large collection works in a practical way, but I do constantly cull as new books come in.

I just signed up so I could post but I have been following along since the cure started. Really love the friendly videos.
I also like the Anthropologie catalog and I have a page from an old Conran's catalog in my design scrap book. There's so much good design online now that I haven't bought a magazine in a while though I've saved all of my World of Interiors, my favorite design magazine.

I love those paper balls and I used to sell them in my old shop. I think that I've seen them recently at the Japanese store Kyotoya at 23 W.19th, in NYC . They have a website kyotoyany .com but the balls are not on the site.
Also "Old Japan" formerly of NYC is now in Boston. They also have a website Oldjapaninc.com.
I'm pretty certain that both of these stores would have them.

Nice apartment Celeste! Looks like you had "good bones" to work with (large open lofty space, lots of light, fireplace) but the home you've created is lovely. I especially love the colors in the "living room" area, the mix of vintage and modern furnishings, & the Calder over the bed.
