JDad, I agree! I am a literature graduate student which mean that I spend a lot of time looking through loads of books for the one I need. When I switched to color coding, like 3 years ago, and not only does it look awesome but it is by far easier to find stuff. If you aren't visual this system probably won't work too well.

I agree with Geckotoes, when I was a kid I spent a large portion of time in my closet reading on a sleeping bag and a heap of pillows. Heck, I still think little spaces like these are pretty rad!

Lovely. I am not crazy about the canvas though...I would have liked a pop of color in there. Maybe using the same pattern with different colors or in red...But great work!

I've had a bunch of luck at thrift stores. In fact, I found and entire fine china set of 8 for $50! So, check there. I always love a mixed and matched look anyway!

I recently had to face a similar challenge. Luckily, I managed to find space in my living room. I actually like the set up better than I had it before and I didn't have to spend a dime. I love fixes like these!

I actually think that the sofa and chair could be great in this room. However, there is just too much black. I would switch out the rug with either a white (to make the room seem larger and create contrast) or another lighter color like pink. I think a large brilliant colored piece of art that you love could serve as a source for a color pallet for curtains, pillows and other accessories. I might also consider painting the matching chairs a bright color (or white) and switching out the fabric on them. And, I would love to see the black side table in a very bold shiny color. But, don't go over board with color, pick a few colors and find ways to add a punch here and there.
