Sounds like somone is a little jelly! Try & understand that she is a successful interior designer & author. If Rita Konig was playing on her Mum's name, would she not be actually using her Mum's name? So you don't get it- maybe her style is a little more, developed, shall we say, that what appreciate... I think you have a great space for a Wow! nook. Paint the wall the the left of the doors (at right angles), and around the top. Accent the bevel detail on te doors ina complementary colour. Hang a small, dramatically framed work of art on the left wall, or of the 4 mirrors are too much, in front of the two outside mirrors, reducing the 'look at me!" factor, and adding some depth.
