Or (and this might be just a huge pain) you might build a similar shape around a small vent (or have a carpenter do it). The folks at younghouselove did something similar (although with a differently shaped hood cover): http://www.younghouselove.com/2012/02/i-gotcha-covered/

This looks awesome. One note: the crawfish at Wal Mart are not from LA. If you look carefully, you'll see that "Boudreaux's Tail Meat Crawfish" are actually from China.

So this is maybe the exact opposite of my own style, and it's beautiful! I love this, because if someone described this room to me, I'd swear I'd hate it. But this totally lovely. Really great job!

For what it's worth, I was always the youngest in my class but didn't mind at all. In fact, I ended up graduating college right before my 21st birthday and really appreciated having what felt like a head start (compared to folks my same age).

If you want to let it go, then I love the photo idea. But if you really do want to keep it, I'm with P-. It might even be possible for you to retie the springs without recovering the sofa, depending on how it's put together (you'd have to take off the fabric underneath, but that's no big deal at all). If, like me, you can't afford an upholstery class there are tons of tutorials online, including this series over at design*sponge: http://www.designsponge.com/category/upholstery-basics

Yeah, I have to agree with everyone else & say there's no masking a queen bed.. I don't think it'd be too weird to have a bed in the living room, though, as long as folks didn't have to sit on it. Think of all the people who live in studios & make it work. Maybe you could find something in the "small, cool" archives that would look good in your room.

This whole house is beautiful. That plant in the bathroom (the one in the vase) is lovely! Does anyone know what that is? (looks too sturdy to be a potato)

A few years ago I covered my cabinet doors with maps of the city I was living in. It was super cheap & easy - I just took off the handles, took them off their hinges, wrapped them (like a present, even w/ scotch tape), then put the handles back on & re-hung them. It took, like, an afternoon & I think it cost me $20 or so. Maps tend to be pretty tough, so I wiped them down with a sponge without any problems.

Honestly, before I even read your question I thought a high-gloss turquoise would look fantastic on the lamp base. With a crisp white shade it would look so clean!
