I believe that is a DaVinci hook, and it comes with a tray for the front wheel as well, so as not to mark up the walls.

I'm sorry. I think this looks junky, not charming.

i *hate* Daiya... but then, I'm not vegan. I am, however, lactose intolerant to the point that even the trace amounts remaining in hard/aged cheeses can bother me, and I do find that the almond cheeses that contain casein are about the closest I've found to the real thing.

In case someone (like Brandy K) was wondering why bother with non-dairy "cheeses" that contain casein.

But CMCINNYC, if you're going to drop a dime on fancy appliances, there are plenty of retro-designed options available.

Still, even with more modern/efficient appliances and new cabinets, there are ways to maintain the vintage character/charm without making the Hudson Valley look like SoHo.

To each their own, but I'd have been more impressed with a gut rehab that kept the period details of the home in mind.

I'm a mom, I know that beer can be helpful not only in milk production, but also in mama relaxation and milk letdown (thanks to a really great LC I consulted with when my first was about 5 days old and having latch problems), but it had never occurred to me in the many meals I've prepared for friends in their babymoons to include a six pack of beer.

What genius!!!!

I have scads of scraps of paper, old used envelopes, etc with recipes (and notes) scribbled on them. I'd give my left arm for a nice, fancy recipe box and set of letter pressed recipe cards, but while I've seen cards I adore, I've yet to find a box I really like. In the meantime, they'll have to live tucked into the back of my dilapidating copy of The Joy of Cooking.

Hmm... less than ideal (removable plates), but if you can't seem to get it clean with it's teflon coated surfaces, you're probably being a little too obsessive.

If you clean it as soon as it's cool to the touch, you should have no trouble getting it clean with hot, slightly soapy water and a good, non-stick-safe dish scrubber/sponge. Elbow grease, people.

Also not to ignore, but kiwi should actually keep for a few weeks in your fridge. It's not like you have to eat all 14 of them in the next 3-4 days.

I'm not typically one for painting vintage pieces of furniture, but I agree that thing WAS in the before, and it looks great now.

I would personally do something different, but not MUCH different... I might have gone still high contrast but slightly different, as I've been dabbling in shades of grey lately, probably a really pale grey with an almost charcoal deep grey as the trim.

Still, it's an ugly duckling turned swan in this project.

It does look better now, but I might have gone one further and modified the legs/kick plate to get rid of the scrolly nonsense.

HATE flannel, HATE jersey. I'm a pajama-wearer. (I admit it, I'm in my late 30s and still sleep fully clothed)

But it seems like with both flannel and jersey, the clothing and sheets kinda stick together and I end up tangled in a mess of bunched-up fabric. Give me a nice 300+ TC cotton and a heavy quilt and I'm all good.

We bought a number of really similar chairs to these for one of the cafes where I work.

They are constructed the same way (with really cheap looking plastic clips). We've had plastic clips break A LOT, but we've also had an inordinate number of them break at the bend in the plywood between the seat and back. FYI. Granted, that *is* in a food service setting, but if we're having problems with chairs breaking in months in that environment, I have to guess it's only a matter of a year or two before it would happen in a home setting.

If you don't mind putting a bunch of chemicals in there.... I found during my vegan days that BacOs (or maybe just a little liquid smoke) was a great substitute for that ham flavor.

I've been looking for a table to go in my entry hallway, and while this Ikea table would be too large, the hack has really changed my ideas about what I'm looking for to go in that space! Thank you!!!!

The operative word here being "help" with the fading of clothing. If you're not careful about rotating clothes on the rods, you're still going to have problems with fading, even with a protective UV treatment on the windows.

I would have put the rods on the non-skylit side of the room (or conversely, if they installed the skylights, the skylights on the opposite side). Or at the very least (now that the damage is done) install shades.
