Baking soda is the absolutely best way I've found to get my stove top back to white again. I sprinkle some on top, then wet it down and let it dry overnight. The next morning, scrubbing it away with a sponge takes all that black crusty stuff with it. Works wonders! Just be careful not to get it on the lighting mechanism for gas stoves. Mine have been testy since I went full court press with baking soda on the underside of the stovetop.

I bought a bobble, and it works great with two caveats:

1. The spout gets a funky smell if you don't wash it every day.

2. It's shape doesn't lend itself to Save the Rainforest stickers. Darn.

Baking soda and vinegar. I love astonishing my skeptical mom by attacking a dirty stove with a baking soda paste - works every time.

I also use baking soda and vinegar in my beauty regimen. Baking soda with honey for the face, apple cider vinegar with my mud mask, vinegar for my hair rinse.

Yes yes yes. I find myself looking at dollar bins and tear myself away. Even at whole foods. I tell myself "If it's on sale, it's because no one wants it."

But my roommate is the worst! She comes home from Target loaded down with stuff, and we periodically clean out her closet of ugly clothing that "was only 10 dollars!"

It sucks because we live in a tiny apartment and her stuff has already eaten the common space.

I saw a bike valet at both the Hester Street Market and the Amsterdam market in New York city. Naturally! :)

I thought you might live in AZ! My aunt in Phoenix has a cinderblock wall and she just painted it white. I think it looks fresh and southeastern, especially with an orange and grapefruit tree hanging over it.

She also had her house number painted in oversize, seventies-era numbers on the wall in the front, which looks very cool.

I love the 15 coats of paint in my pre-war apartment crown moldings, baseboards and huge windows. I decided to play it up by buying antique furniture in that same yellowing-white color and hanging traditional oil paintings on the walls. It looks beautiful, and the only shiny new thing in there is my laptop.

I actually wrote a whole post about how my mom influenced my green habits today. Intentionally or not....

I'm torn on whether to buy the green/blue set. I posted pictures of what my room looks like now. (It has green walls and turquoise/white furniture) Do you think it would be too much?

My technique is to hang each piece I wear back up in the far right/back of my closet. That way, I can see which pieces I haven't worn in a while. It also makes cleaning out my closet a snap, because all the clothes I can't wear are front a center and I just want to get them out!

Of course, it helps that I keep my rarely worn but much-loved cocktail dresses in a separate closet.
