I also have a patio with a door that swings out. In my tiny studio condo I didn't want a screen door swinging in, there just isn't space for it. So I went with a cheap sheer curtain that is long enough to go from ceiling to the floor. There is a transom window over the door so I put the curtain at the top of this with a cheap pressure rod. The curtain panel just covers the door and window with a slight overlap. Bugs aren't that tenacious and usually happen through a door or window randomly so this is sufficient and still lets air in. I am OCD though so I also used small magnets to hold the curtain edges down, luckily my door frames are metal. Now when the bug season is over or it finally gets cooler I can fold up my $12 bug screen and hide it away for next year. Temporary Window Screens: Inexpensive & DIY |

Marble isn't that fragile or easy to stain. I have a 50+ year old marble coffee table. In those 50+ years of not being sealed or treated like a museum piece it has 4 etched in rings that are only visible if the light hits it just right. I say use the hell out of the table. Wipe it down after meals and be happy. Should I Protect Saarinen Marble Top with Glass? Good Questions |

I clicked through because my wall bed is right next to the kitchen. I put An Utby island betweethe bed and fridge. When the wall bed is open there is just inches to get in on that side but the solid separation makes it feel like a defined "bedroom." All of the sofas at CB2 feel like crap. You can feel the hard edges of the wood frame through the fabric and cushions. It is no better quality than Ikea. I have not set in this particular sofa but have sampled many at CB2 and they are all similar quality. Reviews of the CB2 Bolla Sofa? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

I just bought a place with this layout. It's a great way to maximize space when you only have 324 square feet. My last place had 200 sq ft of hallways. What are they good for? Entryway Kitchen Flickr Finds | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

Why can't you do laundry in the kitchen? Do you have religious restrictions on food preparation? A room is a room and in an urban setting we don't usually get to have rooms with dedicated uses. Everything happens in the same space. Sock folding on the kitchen counter isn't magically going to contaminate your veggies (from the dirt) in your crisper drawer. We moved into a rental with an oddly arranged kitchen. There was room for much more in the space but they crammed the stove, sink and dishwasher all into one small wall and left the rest of the space open. We moved the stove to an adjacent wall, put in a washer/dryer with black butcher block over the top to match an island we brought in to separate the space from the living room. I used them last week in israeli cous cous. First I sautéed the shrooms with yellow onion then added the cous cous and hot chicken broth. I cooked it about a half hour adding more broth as needed. Oh and tossed in some frozen artichoke hearts from TJs. The end result was great. Ingredient Spotlight: King Trumpet Mushrooms | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |
