When I bought my condo a few years ago, I hated my parquet floors until I moved in and loved them immediately. I did have a large living room rug, but my dining room and kitchen had bare parquet floors.

It pales in comparison next to any old issue of Domino. Very disappointing.

If you're talking about roaches, and in the south we get huge ones that come in from outside, get some boric acid powder to sprinkle in places animals can't reach. After having a pretty bad problem, I put some boric acid out several years ago and haven't seen a roach (big water bug) again.

Rooms 1 and 6 make my heart sing. If anyone wants to try mixing and matching patterns, here's what worked for me. Without a plan, I started with a Pottery Barn quilt with lots of different Indian fabrics...then I saw some similar printed curtains that I thought would work since I already had so much pattern. Later I covered some lamp shades in a similar weight Amy Butler quilting fabric, upholstered a vanity chair, found pillows at Goodwill that worked. I love it!

I'd suggest starting with a shower curtain that uses the colors of the tile hung on a tension rod to hide the tub and go from there with rugs and towels that coordinate. If you can sew, you can probably make a skirt for your sink that can be attached with velcro under the sides of the sink. With the right shower curtain, your problems would disappear.

Maybe something like this?

Thanks, y'all! The green paint in the bedroom is Benjamin Moore, Sweet Daphne, #529, the green coffee maker is Hamilton Beach, and the kitchen towels are vintage Vera -- I was lucky enough to find a pair of them, unused even!

Oddly enough, I love my kitchen, even though it's small and does double duty as my laundry room.
