I'm happy to play host, but I'm not offended at all if my loved ones decide to get a room somewhere. I know that sometimes a little quality time with the family can go a very long way, and it's nice to have a real break...hotels are perfect for that. I love visiting friends and family, but since I'm a very private person I'd rather stay in a hotel.

I've seen it in person at one of the building's open house events, and the pictures don't do it justice...its fan-effing-tastic! I do interiors for a living and was amazed by the fearless way he put together an approachable yet over-the-top environment. Great job!

Love it. The "before" was ok, but the "after" is fantastic. I can also see it doing double-duty as a side table if it is topped with a coordinating tray.

Just leave it alone. Not every horizontal space needs to be covered. A small kitchen is best when everything is edited down to attractive and functional items you actually use!

Pets belong in their own bed. I love animals and the companionship the bring, but I draw the line at sleeping with anything that will eat it's own poo.

Forgot to mention that I've also used Behr Swiss Coffee. White with a hint of yellow, so it warms it up slightly. It's a good white if the Ultra Pure White is TOO white.

I used Behr Ultra Pure White which is almost identical to Benjamin Moore Super White at a better price. If you want a really good "white white", this is it!

I've also used Behr paint with the primer mixed in, and it worked great.

Good luck!

Stunning! Expensive...of course...its New York! But look how it added to their living space. And the views! Inspiring and very well done!

No home is complete without a plant or two! Sansevieria (aka "snake plant") doesn't mind low light and its really hard to kill....just don't give it too much water. Its also sculptural and looks great in a modern interior. Also good it the phalaenopsis (moth) orchid. The blooms last for a few months.

I love Ikea...great affordable design that really is the "gateway drug" for better quality furniture at some point in ones life. That being said, any one of the photos could have been in my local Ikea store, so they don't seem much like makeovers...more like photos that didn't make the catalog.

I understand that painting the entire place isn't an option, but I feel that whatever you do to the front door will only make the areas you don't address look worse. The trim and corbels need help as does the brick veneer on the step. That being said, I think a very dark glossy charcoal would be great.

Stripping and staining the door should be an option as well. The stained door would be more in line with the architectural style of the house and would also highlight the wrought iron detail.

Larger black address numbers placed on the brick would be a good addition...they're hard to see so low on the door.

You've got a great looking place that only needs a little TLC! Good luck!

NO! to the first photo. Not wholly cool, just weird.

Photo #3 is good...the repetition in the plant material and pots along with the graphic feel of the repeated placement is nicely done.

They look great, but not on their sides as shown in the first photo. Difficult to water and the plants still want to grow up, not at an angle. That said, they really enhance the sculptural feel of the succulents.

A door handle should look good as well as feel good in one's hand...it doesn't necessarily need to make a statement...it should compliment the overall feeling of the entrance. If the door handle stands out so much that you remember it then it has probably been over-designed. That said, the Hand-Le is just a little too creepy!

I think the problem with the photo is that the technology makes the lighting placement scream out "Look at me!" I think it would be better used in a club or restaurant as a great way to create some visual interest, but in a home...not so much. That being said, judicious use of LED lighting might be an interesting way to accent behind a flat screen or in a bookcase as long as it is part of an entire lighting plan. And probably no colored lights.
