I'm an avid baker and I never buy buttermilk when recipes call for it. Instead, I use plain yogurt which I always have in the fridge. If the recipe calls for 1 cup buttermilk, I fill my measuring cup almost all the way with the yogurt and add just a splash of milk to top it off. What Can I Substitute for Buttermilk in a Cake? I add a tiny splash of almond extract. People never know what the flavor is but always love it. Just a tiny bit though- it's super strong! Brownie Bliss: A Secret Ingredient (Or Two) | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

This looks awesome, but I have to say my absolute favorite lasagna recipe is in the Joy Of Cooking and they call it Lasagna Bolognese. To make it from scratch is a bit of a pain, but if you have bolognese sauce in your freezer it comes together really quickly. Besides the delicious bolognese sauce, it also uses Bechamel sauce (which takes less than 5 minutes to make from flour, butter, and milk) rather than ricotta which really brings the lasagna to a whole new level.
