Dear Brian & Luke:

Great light, clean, bright, real, just enough color throughout, kitschy kitchen appliances, that fab chair in the first pic, overweight kitties in the house.... yes, I'm moving in this weekend! (Unless you'd prefer I hold off until Memorial Day, of course.)

PS: I'll be bringing my cat; he's very friendly and loves men.

Marley, thanks for the color name! I don't know that I can get my hands on Farrow & Ball, but looking through the chips I already had I found some Benjamin Moore chips (Alapca and Yosemite Sands) that I hadn't considered before that could be very close.

LOVE! Cool, but with just enough personality. I'm inspired...

That said, PLEASE tell me the name of the cocoa/mocha color paint in your living room; it may be just what i am looking for as I have warm woods, too. ; )

What's next? A $5K industrial-size-wire-spool "table"?
A $3K door-cum-"desktop"? A three-figure cardboard-box "wastecan"?

The first pic is just beautiful, love the laminate cabinets and the wood shelves... if I ever have a kitchen to renovate and the money to hire someone to renovate it for me...

Have to agree the other two pics are nowhere as intriguing as the first, though I may have to install some shelves next to my fridge now (why didn't I think of that?) ...

"Bring home a rockstar and get crazy"? Not seeing that so much, either. Unless Hillary Duff is considered a "rock star" these days.

Suddenly, I am seeing a rock star — Joan Jett circa 1982, early '90s Babes in Toyland... I am liking this place more and more!

The dining area needs work, though -- I'd ditch the chairs (how often does one have dinner parties in NYC?), get a great 1950s- style vinyl-covered bar with barstools to match to stick in the corner and hide that radiator, maybe a set of glossy tray tables, paint the whole wall and the hideous radiators some deep, sexy shade...

First thought: DO SOMETHING WITH THOSE RADIATORS. Tear them off the wall, burn them off if you have to.

Second thought: The bed is ... wow. I love it. So (@*(!@ HOT. All that's missing is a pair of marabou slippers kicked off on the floor. ; )

Is it just me? I've looked at all the pics, I've read the articles, I've reviewed the comments, again and again... yes, it's a beautiful renovation on very limited space with very limited materials — I do love what they did with the books — but how long would you really want to live/eat/sleep there?

WHERE DID YOU GET THE "DOLLS" DOUBLE-FEATURE MOVIE POSTER? DO TELL!

Aside from that... I couldn't live here as I am prone to seizures, but I love that the space has PERSONALITY in spades — really, you deserve some kind of prize.

The beams are fanastic; lucky you! Love the addition of the red lamp and turquoise kitty house... you say "clutter", I say "color"....

Full-size sheets: Check overstock.com and smartbargains.com — the selection of Full sizes is limited compared to what they have in Queen/King sizes, but I have scored some 400-count sets for around $50.

Also, the newer bamboo blends are HEAVENLY soft; I think they stock them at BB&B on Sixth Avenue. Donna Karan's home line also did them a few years ago.

"If the issue is that you have projects and papers and stuff around, you're destined to endure one of Alexandra Stoddard's books, in which she tells you to store your crap in beautiful papered boxes...."
_____________

Excuse me, what is wrong with all those beautiful papered boxes full of clutter (excuse me — I mean "boxes full of color") stacked so prettily in my closet? I love AT but the emphasis on visual cleanliness is beginning to frighten me; Is there some fundamental weakness in my psyche that forces me to keep last year's vacation pictures on hand and old magazines in the bathroom?

For no other reason that yours is the smallest apartment I've ever seen, you deserve a prize. Hope no one goes ballistic over the colorful kitchen shelves. (It's not called CLUTTER, people, it's called COLOR!)

Lovely, but living in a 10" by 10" space will destroy any relationship. ; ) Would make a great retreat, though.

I've been using spice racks from Gracious Home in my bathroom for years, hung on nails situated between the tiles... next time I'm going for the IKEA racks, though.

The One Sweep has only One purpose: To pick up pet hair, which it does a FAB job. I got mine at Bed Bath & Boyfriend for a lot less than I would have on TV!

Otherwise: Jenniejen is right, it sucks.

Why? To remind me that my EV walkup (chopped out in a devastating post-war, Soviet-style "renovation") isn't all that bad! But the wood in the Moscow apartment is BEAUTIFUL; contractors tear down houses for trim like that.

It's my kitchen, right down to the Kitchen-Aide! I questioned painting my cabinets white but now I probably will, as soon as I scrape the decades of filth off of them....

I love this apartment; whoever said it looked "like a nursery" is should just go back to their cold DWR cave and crawl under their Calvin Klein percale sheets. ; ) Really, who dosen't want to have cocktails at Bri and Chad's?

Unfortunately, IKEA may be it. I looked everywhere and eventually wound up at Tiny Living on Seventh Street, where the manager told me he hoped to design one himself someday as OTS racks suitable for an NYC apartment just don't exist.
