Whisking milk in a heated saucepan with a fine mesh grease ladle works too. (but don't let the milk come to a boil.) Learned that trick from a Norwegian cook at an art residency in Spain. A ladle like this: http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Stainless-Steel-Grease-Kitchen/dp/B00DC3LB5U

My karate chopping list includes flat design compositions using the same matchy-matchy (rather than coordinating) 2 or 3 colors with all walls, accessories and fabrics; the impersonal off-the-rack look ie "Domino (mag) Effect" that stinks of a newly bought elephant or (zebra rug) in the room; furniture pushed up against the perimeter of rooms for "space".

The house has such soulful, understated charm. A curious mix of quiet AND joyous at the same time. Love.

It's a comforting and heartfelt tradition that should definitely go way beyond that first week. New parents are pretty tired weeks/months after birth. A very lovely gift indeed. One that even non-new parents would love to receive, in my opinion.

I forget the name, but I love that shop that has the polar bear. It has some really unusual and macabre stuff.

Jenn-Air is the "big fish" for Whirlpool (Rpoole11). They also have this 72" (reg. 69") cabinet depth unit: http://www.jennair.com/flash.cmd?/#/product/JFC2290VEM/.

Tip: "Cabinet Depth" = 25" deep not including door, but including bulk of plug in a pocket outlet.

"Built-In" is completely flush to depth of cabinets.

The kitchen re-do is great! Love the prep island.

What's going on with that huge duct running through the house, though?

Also, I think the scale of furnishings to available volumes of space is a bit wierd. The pieces/compositions seem too small and clustered together in some of the rooms. Maybe you'll grow into the size of the house over time.

Don't mind the bitter-bettys. Someone's always going to be richer or poorer than the next guy. You are where you are. Enjoy yourselves and the house.

Miele actually has a new vacuum made especially for Cat & Dog. Available through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Miele-S516-Canister-Cleaner-Handheld/dp/B0012XUYJ6

They are pricey, but so worth it! I love mine.
