I've always wondered why Americans love to pack stuff into their measuring gear - especially butter seems so troublesome :D Baking Matters: What is Packed Brown Sugar? |

I don't think there's anything wrong with having some wishes if you have the choice. I'm not going to choose vermin etc. just because someone else might want me to have a guilt trip of being part of a community that thrives more than other places on the planet. Housing is not the place I will ever down-prioritize for the sake of others, but this on the other hand doesn't mean I don't give when and where I can to others who have less. It sucks especially now not to be considered in your giveaways. There is no other bed I want as much as the Hästens, even though I already have a Dux. Sigh. Maybe I'll win the millions this weekend, who knows... Win a $10,000 Bed! The Hästens Best Bed Giveaway |

hystericglamour, I'm guessing they turned the bed from its position in the first picture counterclockwise 90 degrees to stand up against an empty wall, so that the feet would be pointing towards the window on the right (under which there used to be a black bag of some sort). This would free both windows and no furniture would stand immediately underneath them anymore. Maybe I didn't grasp the layout though. Before & After: A New Headboard Makes the Bedroom |

I've had the pleasure of sitting in one of these Eames chairs and experienced a hard time getting out of it again. I did the trial in an interior-decoration store and was embarrassed but just couldn't stop the glue. It's very rare for me to find a good chair of this size as they usually are weird in the back and the ratios in every direction are off somehow with too short a leg room underneath the upper legs, but man, this one! <3 When Should You Splurge On the Real Thing? |

@Jeffrey Jason: There's a saying where I come from that poor people can't afford to buy cheap stuff. My parents have the same sofa that they saved up for over a longer time in the 70's and they've changed the fabrics and cushions twice. No spring thingies have gone out of place even though there were two kids behaving like kids a couple of decades ago. I could not agree more and have lived by this rule in my own home too. Alvar Aalto coffee table, A.A. kitchen table, Arne Jacobsen lamp, Dux beds. I've purchased these things during my studies and have made sound decisions that I'm never going to regret. All of these are almost like new still. When Should You Splurge On the Real Thing? |

Oh goodness. "Sleeping together" and sleeping together are two entirely different things. I could copy-paste Villages comment and only have to add that our beds are tied together by a metal thingy at the middle foot-end legs. Works like a charm and I get my sleep. Ear plugs help keep the *heavy* snoring out, but it would feel weird not to sleep in the same room. I get that snoring makes sleep such a luxury for some that they choose different rooms, though. Forgot to mention that the dust mites (not bacteria even though my choice of words might insinuate that) fall down too, on the floor I mean, so I try not to keep anything under the bed. Currently the space is limited, but once I live more spaceously I definitely won't ever keep anything there. How Often Do You Change Your Sheets? |

It's not overly clean to change sheets once a week. Like cremedela (sorry if I misspelt your name) said there are dust mites. Lots and lots of them. When you've changed sheets there's a little only. After a week 10 million. After two weeks 30 million. So I change them once weekly. Sorry if that offends someone. I also wash them in 60 degrees Celsius to kill the dust mites and other bacteria. Sorry if that offends someone too. I wouldn't want to sleep in your bed if you've changed your sheets once per month. Hope I'm not offending you in return. How Often Do You Change Your Sheets? |

I just read the email and was inspired to try it out tomorrow. We don't have all of the ingredients so I'll change the recipe a bit, but hopefully it will taste even remotely like the one you make! Snow and currently -11°C here, but it's been even colder already, about 5°F.
