Oh wow! This is actually my friend's media console. I have seen it in person and I have to say that these photos really don't do it justice. It is really beautiful and the speaker stands (also made by Sawyer) are perfect next to the console. She also made my friend's formal dining room table, which is breathtaking. Sawyer's work is really amazing!

I definitely second the votes for Meet the Shannons, I love their site. Herbivoracious (not 100% vegan) is great too. Please also check out my blog, Vegan Good Things! http://vegangoodthings.blogspot.com

I agree with other commenters, it is truly unfortunate that you didn't test Daiya or Dr. Cow. Daiya is by far the best for melting cheeses, and for a cheese plate, Dr. Cow is great. Sheese also does a blue-flavored cheese that I tried recently and is great in salads. The brands tested here really aren't the best vegan cheese options out there.

My mother (who is Thai) loves to make omelets with carrot tops. This is eaten with nam prik kapi, the incredibly stinky but tasty condiment made from shrimp paste, garlic, and other things. Her grocery store cuts the tops off the carrots, so she has asked them to save them for her in the back, but she's embarrassed to tell them that she eats them so she says they're for her pet rabbit.

Disgusting. The most vile cocktail I ever tasted was at Mercato in the Meatpacking District. I have no idea what it was supposed to be, but I distinctly remember that it tasted like bubblegum. When I complained to the bartender that it was sickeningly sweet, she gave me the 2nd most vile cocktail I've ever tasted...that one tasted, I swear, like curry powder. Ewww. Lesson learned: stick to wine.

My husband is vegan, and I am lactose intolerant, which pretty much makes me vegan too. We love to make pizza without cheese - you just need to load up on good, savory toppings, and you won't even miss the cheese. Here's a blog post that I did on our Shitake Mushroom-Cornmeal Crust Pizza: http://vegangoodthings.blogspot.com/2010/02/two-moons-special-shitake-mushroom.html
