We have a two-story ceiling in our living room, so last year I made a calder-inspired mobile that is almost six feet tall for the room. I love it. As the heat or air come on it moves slowly, and it is wonderful. Truly, it is an easy DIY project, and it was dirt-cheap. All Grown Up: Mobiles for Adults |

There is no way I will be able to complete this in one day, as our filing cabinet really needs to be fully re-organized. However, one huge benefit that I am finding from the cure is that I am getting a gentle kick in the pants to actually see the problem areas in my house, figure out what needs to be done, and do it. I have made huge strides, finished an enormous project that I had been afraid of, and figured out what else is on the list. So the papers might not all get organized in a day - that's alright, because now I know that they *will* get done. Day 14: Get Papers & Files in Order Apartment Therapy January Cure |

We did this last year for the first time, but we called it our "light one candle" year - as in the expression, "It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." So when we noticed a problem, whether it was organizational or something more substantial or a project that needed to get done, we just went ahead and completed it. It was fantastic, and it really worked. Of course, you never really stop noticing new things that need to get done, so we have decided to make this our default way of life. This year will be another "light one candle" year, as will next year, etc. The New Year's Resolution to Rule Them All |

I have a quick framing question and I am wondering if you guys might be able to help. I have a poster for my kids' bathroom that is almost framed, but I am using a cheap frame from IKEA, and I just can not get those little metal tabs to go into the sides of the frame to hold everything in place. Does that make sense? Do you guys have any advice? I would rather not have to pay someone to assemble this frame. The whole idea was to keep things cheap! I am going to finish upholstering a large ottoman/daybed that I made last year and have been afraid to upholster. I don't know what I am doing, but it has to get done. I bought the fabric yesterday on super sale, dark grey denim! Wish me luck.... Day 5: Select One Project from Your List to Complete this Month Apartment Therapy January Cure |

We bought two 88" dorset sofas by Rowe last year, in a dark navy microsuede. We absolutely love them. They look very similar to the Thrive sofa, but at a lower price. http://www.rowefurniture.com/product/K520.html?start=1#. 10 Blue Sofas in All Shades, Shapes & Sizes |
