BTW, that's a really cute toy pitcher & tumblers, where are they from? I'm currently outfitting a toy kitchen.

Looks fantastic! Great job. I never see anything but fast food wrappers and dead raccoons on the side of the road. (Poor raccoons.)

I also frequently prefer painted surfaces to wood grain. I just had our stained (ugly, orangey stain) fireplace painted white and it looks amazing now.

It's a lovely crib, I wish it had been an option for me two years ago! (Although I do love our Nurseryworks crib.) I saw it in the Giggle catalog yesterday, it's also built using nontoxic materials and I think sustainable woods.

And, yes, I consider $500 affordable for a piece of furniture such as a crib, especially one made with nontoxic and sustainable materials. I don't think everything has to be ultra-cheap to be labeled "affordable." And no, I'm not rich, but I believe in buying quality when I can afford it.

Maybe I'm too young, but the originals of these weren't made of wood. I think the original Snoopy dog was wood, but most Fisher Price toys in the 60s and 70s were plastic. I had the milk truck, and I really want to buy it and the record player for my daughter. My mom, however, was NOT impressed with the new version of the teaching clock--it didn't tick right or play the right music--so she bought an original in good condition from eBay for my daughter. Who loves it. I recently bought the Toy Story 3 version of the Chatter phone, which is cute, but the string for the receiver is so short my daughter doesn't like playing with it. I understand long strings can be dangerous, but kids need to be able to put the phone to their ear without dragging the entire phone too. It could be a little longer. And didn't the original have a string to pull it around too?

It's a very sophisticated nursery, I love the use of color. However, they're going to have to change it once the child (Wyeth?) is crawling or walking, they're going to have to move those low picture ledges. And a few actual toys that aren't from Kid Robot would be nice.

That is fab! I love organized space. How about these amazing knobs from Anthropologie: http://tinyurl.com/232zfa4
Or else some pretty glass knobs or pulls--after all that girly pink some crystal or something on the outside would look great.

A friend of mine worked at a California Internet startup that had a slide from one of the higher floors into the lobby. Pretty sure they tanked in the bust though.

It's a great store. I go in there and think, "I want this and this and this and this..." and I don't even sew.

I love so much about this room--the aqua and red color scheme, the great rocking chair, all the fab textiles... I have an antique child's desk for my daughter's room too (or will when my mom restores it!) Amazing job, you should be proud.

Doesn't anyone else remember the penny-filled transparent toilet seats that were popular twenty years or so ago? No one seemed to care about "defacing" that currency. That said, I think this is gorgeous. Love the warm glow. My sister has copper-sheathed kitchen countertops and they have that same lovely warm feel.

I have a large blank wall in my kitchen/dining room, and I want to put open shelving on it. But don't you need a really good extractor to make it worthwhile? As in, not having to constantly wash off the accumulated grease. Anyone have a suggestion as to how powerful an extractor is needed? We need to replace the one in our new house, right now we still have the original wall fan from 1954 above the range.

I like nearly all of them. However, if you look at the auction site, the only one bid on is the one from Shakira, and that is at the minimum bid of $500.

In the attic of my great-grandmother's house my mom wrote "Susan is a stinker" on the wall. Susan being her older sister. As kids they spent entire summers in that house. When I was a kid I thought it was fantastic that there was real evidence that my mom had once been a normal kid like us--one who got angry at her siblings and did things like wrote on the walls!

And in my current house, bought only a few months ago, there's a huge shaky "B" scratched into the concrete of the basement floor. Looks like something a kid did--and likely was done by the woman we bought the house from. She grew up there and was selling the house for her mom. Their last name began with a letter "B."

The prints are nice, but I love that bed! Anyone have any idea where it's from, or is it vintage? Looks vintage.

Nice photo. I think mine is actually a Bonde unit, not an Expedit, it's bigger and has much thicker boards on the outsides. But the cubbies are the same size. I bought it as a room divider/bookcase in an old apartment of mine. But now it's in my daughter's room, storing her books and toys. For hidden storage, I have Target bins covered in one of their Liberty prints. Looks pretty, hides a multitude of messy sins!

Absolutely adore it! The color scheme is wonderful, I love white furniture in a baby's room, and there are so many wonderful little touches. Like the aqua ball fringe on the window valances! I love ball fringe, I think it's so happy and old-fashioned. I bought pre-made white curtains with ball fringe for my daughter's room. All your art choices are great, and there are so many cute Haba and Jellycat toys. And I like the way there are quite a few giraffes, from the lamp to the wall stickers to Sophie (Sophie is a *must*) but you didn't make it a theme.

I know, it's too bad, my daughter actually loves the things (from before I knew about the batteries.) A friend gave her a Sleeping Beauty card that plays Tchaikovsky last year for her 1st birthday, and she danced to it! So precious. But they're just too dangerous. Children have actually died from these batteries.

Musical cards are a BAD gift--they're run by just the sort of tiny batteries that can maim and kill small children if swallowed. And since they're inside a card, there's only cardboard keeping the battery from your child. Don't give those cards to small children, and if you must, supervise them very, very carefully and put them way out of access when playtime is over.

My suggestion is to cut it. There aren't any safe hair accessories. Some babies just leave their hair clips alone, but my daughter was never that way. She never had much hair, so it hasn't been that much of an issue, we just trimmed it when it became necessary. Now she's 21 months old and her hair is hanging in her eyes again. She loves pretty little clips, so I asked her, very seriously, in Target if she would promise not to put the clips in her mouth if I bought them, and she said "Yes." Five minutes later I looked over and she had the package of clips in her mouth. ;) (Yes, we did buy them, but put them away for later.)
