1. You need a mix of popular and "expert" votes. That's fair.
2. I'm personally very disappointed in the experts choice of finalists this year. I don't find them to be the best representations at all, either aesthetically or creatively.
My conclusion: won't spend much time on looking and voting next year.

I've used this for years and LOVE it. It attaches right to your tap. I also bought the companion shower filter that screws on to a regular shower head. I change the filters once/year, at the beginning of each year, that way it's easy to remember.

I like the idea. Better to save the building and continue to enjoy the architecture than to let it fall into disrepair. I'll hold criticismm of the renovation, realizing that every project like this is very unique; solutions for wall treatments and HVAC systems are often governed by the the existing structure and economic feasibility.

I like this place a lot. It's stylish, artsy, and modern without being extreme in any of those categories. I feel like I could mix a drink and just sink right into an armchair to read a book or have a nice long conversation about art. Warm and comfy.

The fact is, I will never be able to afford to buy a home in the neighborhood where I live. So I rent and I love it. I can live exactly where I want to live, treat the place like my own (in fact, I choose to take care of the little yard myself because it relaxes me), yet don't have to pay for maintenance or emergency fixes. I spend my time enjoying the place, not worrying about it. Good deal.

Great little kitchen!! I agree with those who said to ask the landlord to replace the appliances, offer to split only as a last resort.

I very much agree in disliking the karate chopped pillows empty picture frames, and useless items. One of my additional pet peeves is when the entire living room is focused entirely on the TV, like there's no other reason to be there and you get the feeling that it expresses the full extent of the inhabitants' social capabilities. If you have a home theater and a separate living room, great. Otherwise, let it be a true living room for entertaining, conversation, having drinks, reading, games...AND a place where you can pull out the TV at times and enjoy a good movie.

Place the most used items (microwave, refrigerator, oven, dishes) at counter height...turn the corner if you have to, go partly around the room with the counter...or use a small (eventually removable) island/table just to keep as much as possible accessible at waist level. Make use of hooks and open shelves for easy accessibility (cabinets and shelving don't have to have doors, you can remove that step). 2nd most used items below counter to avoid bending. Rarely needed items above (if there is any above-counter storage at all) to discourage reaching and use of a step stool.
