Also a note about removing the film. Here is the trick. You get flat razor blades, put them in a small plastic paint scraper tool. Then use Windex or vinegar, coat the glass in liquid and scrape it off! The windex softens the film and it comes off in long strips VERY easily.

Home Depot window film as a first layer of privacy (I've used it a dozen times with ZERO installation problems, and it's easy to remove). Then you layer sheer curtains under heavier black out curtains. This way you can open the windows and get light privacy from the sheers and heavier privacy from the blackout panels. Personally I'd do high mounted, floor to ceiling panels. It would add texture and make the entire wall interesting.

I'm obsessed with solar lights. I've used most of these. Solar lights are great, but you can't expect too much from them. They make great background lights but still can't illuminate a space they way hardwired lights can.

I made 8 sun jars and LOVE them. I found some old style, glass top/ wire closure Mason Jars. They HAVE to be wide mouth jars to work. Target has great single solar lights for 3$ each. Frosted the inside of the jar with a spray paint, oh and you need to use a good 2 part epoxy to get the solar lights to stick. I used Loctite epoxy. I love that I can completely ignore them and they take care of themselves!
