... and it literally takes 5-10 minutes to make, depending on how long it takes you to get out the ingredients and choose spices.

Make your own nut butters. You choose what goes in, including spices, and it makes great gifts. The Cuisinart makes it as smooth or chinky as you want it, and no stirring is necessary. My current favorite includes roasted salted cashews, honey, Saigon cinnamon and walnut oil.

I made one with galvanized metal from Home Depot. A big sheet was around $5. The tins I got online with a thin magnetic base on each. I tried gluing magnet onto the base of tim I got from a website. Huge mess and hard to remove from the metal. Put a painted wooden frame around the whole thing using scrap wood. Very inexpensive and looks/works great!

Love the kitchen. Industrial supplies are not always a cost-effective way to go. I saw a cool post with an industrial tool drawer in the kitchen. Goggled it, and the best price I found was around $1,000. Be creative when pursuing these great ideas.

Go bold with color. It'll make you smile every time you arrive at home, even on overcast and rainy days.

The hedge is too big for the house. Cut it back or take it out and replant. It will open up the cool architecture of the house and make the house look bigger.

minimalism. i can bring my project's inspiration to the workspace and be surrounded with items related to the focus of my project at hand. a few personal items remind me of life away from the desk. clutter = distractions.

I coupon only for items that we already use. Too many people use coupons for things they wouldn't buy in the first place. Makes no sense.

I had similar cabinets. I painted them antique white and changed to aged-patina copper pulls for hardware. It's like I have a new set of cupboards. I have a small kitchen and spent around $100 for paint and $50 for hardware.

I do a variation of dumpster diving. Twice a year, neighborhoods have city cleanups that will take anything except cars. People put out great unwanted furniture and outdoor living items. Different neighborhoods have different pickup weeks. I am selective about the neighborhoods I cruise for good trash, and it hasn't been doused with food or icky waste.

I'd like to know costs not to slam the renovator but to decide which of the changes are within my budget. Materials lists would be great as well, so we know what to shop for.
