If I had a ton of money, I would purchase a large beautiful rowhouse in the Georgetown, DC, and turn it into a large, beautiful shelter for homeless and runaway kids.

I love mid-century design, but these tiles have got to geeeeeoh. I have similar vintage tiles in my 1953 bathroom, and I can't wait to rip it all out.

There are a lot of photos of open upper kitchen shelving. But, looking at photo no. 2 above, I think, just as practical, would be some open base cabinet shelving, especially for pots and pans that are used on a near daily basis.

And after looking at all of these photos, I just wish I could earn more money - a lot more!

I am not a dessert guy nor generally a "sweets" lover, but that blueberry cheesecake ice cream pie is making my mouth water!

Also, I really like the door finish and design - warm and modern. It's a nice change from the usual white cabs seen on AT, which I also like.

One thing I like about the extra counter space beyond the fridge is that you can keep your coffee maker, toaster, food processor, and mixer out in the open but sort of hidden.

Immediately after graduating from college, my younger sister, rather than move back home, struck out on her own and found an apartment, even though she was barely making ends meet with her part-time job (eventually converted to full-time) as an Emergency Room RN. I asked why she chose not to live at home with mon and dad for a while to save money, and she said the "home" rules are clearly different for daughters and sons. If she could have, she would have definitely bought a place. Perhaps some of these younger professional women are thinking similarly?

The yellow color of that Crate and Barrel bench is poppin'! I wish I had space in a entryway for this. And I like the Conran chairs from JC Penney.

I hate to say this, because I try to avoid furnishings made from animal products my own home, but leather club chairs (not with rounded arms) in a camel or light brown color, would look nice with that sofa and your waterfall coffee table. To me, the sofa has a masculine vibe, something that one might see in a boutique hotel.

These photos also remind me of how much uneaten food we throw out. I've gotten much better - if anything gets tossed from my fridge nowadays, it's usually limited to small quantities of unused fresh herbs from the grocerstore.

Seriously, no love for Torrrance?! Ha ha. I grew up there (live in DC area now), and I haaaaated it. I went to school at UCLA, and I loved Santa Monica, North Hollywood, and West Hollywood. Didn't Madonna ruined Los Feliz? It used to be a place back in the 1990s where new college graduates moved to because it was so inexpensive and downtown access.

I just got a spiralizer (similar to the above) recently. The minute I'm done using it, I just take the blade off and rinse it, and the handle, under a heavy stream of water and let it air dry.

@ Boston Bean - I had the same thought re portion size - "small-platish" servings with a little bit of this and little bit of that, which is a style of dining I've come to appreciate more and more, e.g. tapas and mezze.
