I just recently completed a similar project.

You can use high-gloss oil-based enamel paint (I used Benjamin Moore).
First I wiped down the furniture piece, lightly sanded, and wiped away the sanding.
Then I primed (you can use a latex based primer eventhough the paint you're using is oil-based. You just can't do it the other way around).
I painted one coat, let it dry overnight, and painted a second coat the next day. I let that dry overnight and finished w/ a product called Poly-wipe which is a polyurethane based polish that'll give your furniture that extra gloss on top of the already glossy enamel paint.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and I also agree that the current color is too warm...

My suggestion is to go with a very soft, light grey with a cooler undertone that can work as an alternative to white. I think it'll work great against the pops of color you already have. I would also consider changing the blinds to white shades so that the shades and door/door trim would pop against the grey.

Take a look at Benjamin Moore's "grey tint" and "sidewalk grey".

Goodluck!

I've done it once (etsy purchase) for a pair of nightstands. The seller dropped them off in Albany, NY and I picked up from Port Authority in NYC. And unfortunately one of the legs on the stands broke in half during transit...I was eventually able to repair the leg without any problems. With that said, I would use Greyhound again but not for any delicate pieces of furniture or anything of great value...I would also ask the shipper to be extra diligent with packing.

The orange, grey, and blue bags are from DWR and I got them a couple of years ago. They don't hold the shape as nicely as the image depicts- they just look sad and messy after a while.
