These aren't quilts. I've seen these in person, and replicated it myself using felt hexagons with slits. Its a neat effect!

Having grown up in the US, I place a very high value on personal space. I would probably be very unhappy living in these buildings, and I totally understand the perspective of everyone who has said as much in this thread. But its just our Western perspective, and isn't somehow a better or more right way to think. Its not like a basic human need that everyone shares.

When my mother-in-law first moved to Vancouver, Canada from Hong Kong, she found herself alone walking down the street and cried because she had never felt so alone in her life. To her, having personal space, being alone in a city street just made her lonely and uncomfortable. Could you blame her?

Im really happy with my NYVOLL!

It may be the case that it doesn't really look exactly like wood, but it has a very nice color in person (its a lot darker than the image here shows, its dark as walnut). From a few feet away, it doesn't stand out as cheap. That said, it is laminate and up close you can tell.

The construction of it is very good, the drawers have that nice automatic close function when you push it in close enough. Its one of my favourite ikea purchases.

I love the open shelving, but I couldn't ever live with constantly dusting and cleaning it. Sometimes I wonder what people are cooking! Do people with open shelving right next to their stovetops never cook bacon, or cook with oil?

Maybe I am just a much lazier cleaner.

Great place!

I would love to know where all the matching floating furniture came from, especially the tv console and desk.
