The concrete actions you can take should be what make or break your decision. Someone's prejudice or anger at their landlord can fuel their comments, but checking with the police and on the sex offender registry will give you a solid answer, plus it's honestly something you ought to do for anywhere you're considering to live. yeah there are separate contractors just for mold. When we bought our house we had one check out the basement and he even just did a swab or air sample or something because it was concrete, so who knows, maybe a contractor won't even need to do too much ceiling damage! Either way, if mold isn't taken out all the way (not just bleached, bu spores removed) it will for sure keep growing, and it could be really dangerous to your health. i definitely encourage you to hire a mold contractor. Wow, I don't get all these naysayers at all! Looks great plus obviously it's the most functional, you would know, you live there. Way to go making something look simple, beautiful and balanced, not bare or crowded. Before & After: A Simple Switch Opens Up a Dining Room |

I heard one person say they chose gDiapers, has anyone else used them? The option of a disposable/compostable liner reeally appeals to me, but what makes BumGenius so widely preferred? No baby yet, just interested... A Look Inside Cloth Diapers |

I am shocked at how many people here say they wouldn't! Maybe it's the fact that I'm in the midwest, but I don't think so. It's even weirder to me that people have never borrowed or given sugar to a neighbor, I mean that's even an old saying about he friendliness of your neighborhood. We definitely still buy cookies from neighbor kids, return my neighbors dogs to their houses, and even borrow a cup of sugar from time to time around here in Indiana. If you give money to UMCOR (the United Methodist Committee on Relief) 100% goes to relief efforts, NOT Any of it goes to people's salaries or to administration. That's because churches donate the money to keep UMCOR workers employed year-round. Right now they are already on the ground providing relief, so 100% of funds goes to supplies etc. The Japan Earthquake: How to Help |

My question is, how do you once-a-week-ers keep your sheets from wearing out? I've bought cheap and nice sheets, - ok, admittedly never super duper nice -and the more washing, the faster they get outright holes in them! You know, down at the feet where my hubby flops like a fish in his sleep. Does line drying help them last longer without mending? How Often Do You Change Your Sheets? |

Wow, I'm pretty surprised at some of the things people expect. I do expect a guest to be respectful and not trash my place, but it will look like they've lived there because they have. Yes as a guest I automatically watch where they put dirty laundry and follow suit with towels, etc, and I pitch in around the house. But I don't expect it of my guests, either, it's just handy. I had a landlord who let me take up the carpet because there was hardwood underneath, and I was supplying free labor. You might also convince him to pay for laminate (if there's not hardwood underneath) if you put it in. It's suuuper easy and quick to do. My allergist told me there's almost no way to get cat dander out of carpet, dog dander is easier but apparently cat dander has little spikes on it. I agree with the aluminum foil idea. Our trainer told us to wash out a few soda cans and, when totally dry, put some pennies in them and place them precariously on the cushions, they hate the noise. Also, sometimes I just park my vacuum in front of the couch before going to bed:-) How Do You Keep Your Dog Off The Sofa? | Apartment Therapy DC |

In Madison, WI this has been common practice...and on May 15.... for as long as I can remember. Mainly people put out mattresses and couches because all the UW college kids are moving and so it's like a giant swap day, plus then they don't have to move their big pieces if they're not attached. Once some of my friends drove like 45 minutes to go scavenge mattresses for some project they were doing because the practice is that well known, and we were in high school then even. So during my recent trip to buy vacuum bags I noticed a little gadget looking like a dustbuster, except it had a spot for water and called itself a scrubber. I have a veeeery limited budget, but desperately need a mini version of a carpet cleaner for my couches. Any suggestions on quality products?
