don't mess with hammer drills unless you're familiar with one.

the installer i user is m&n installations. they're NYC based. i used them to install floor-to-ceiling drapes, mounted to the wall via screws directly into the masonry. they're very sturdy and look great. they charged about $150 total for two windows.

I also just used them to install my roman shades and inside-mount roller shades to my bedroom windows. Total cost was $163 for the two windows.

$220 per window sounds insane.

this is just plain awful. there is no precedent for this in thousands of years of architecture and design. there is such a thing as being too novel. it doesn't suit the home's architectural style at all.

the concept of an 'accent wall' needs to die a painful death already.

agreed with the above two comments. it may be worth a few grand to someone in original condition, but what is it worth to you. planner group stuff was factory furniture in the 50's and 60's -- pieces like this are not unique and are not rare. this furniture is frequently refinished in new stains and paint, even today.

i love this tour, and i love sara moulton. i always say she is the woman that taught me to cook. as a teenager i watched cooking live every day, and that's how i learned to roast, braise, blanch, sear, and everything else. :) you can't get those basic technical oriented shows on food TV anymore.

how funny that in SF people go outside the city to get warmer, and in NYC it is the complete opposite :) i'd kill for a small house out in sag harbor!
