lots of judgy mcjudgersons :) lots of them get stuff for free...and don't tell me if you were in their shoes you probably wouldn't have something similar...you don't know what these people do in their off time with their "leftover" clothes, their money, or their time. get over yourselves.

I hate getting these flowers in an arrangement :( I really do not like the smell and the pollen is messy. At least now after reading this I will remember to cut out the stamen after getting these!! nothing personal to anyone else, I just don't think they smell as sweet as other people think they do.

I bought a phone 'holder' that clips into the AC vent but also has a suction cup...but it doesn't seem sturdy enough. It's sort of annoying to have the AC vent tilting down when trying to type in an address or soemthing on the phone. Oh well.

@Jose A - that is because men have only a few choices for shirts! every time my boyfriend comes home with a new shirt I go to his closet and say YOU HAVE 30 SHIRTS JUST LIKE THAT!! they are all long/short sleeve multi colored plaid. men have that, polos, solid button downs, and atrocious ed hardy & ed hardy look-a-likes.

ever since i saw the original post of the vintage mail sorter for shoes i have been SCOURING the net constantly. it would completely suit our design aesthetic and would handle the dozens upon dozens of shoes that are hanging out by the front door. plus it would just look cool. every time my boyfriend starts lecturing me about the ever growing piles i always refer back to the AT post with that piece and then his lil heart melts just a bit more.

I love all of the cool toned colors in the house, and we're nearly neighbors (hello from MB!!).

Most of the time I forget about the items I've donated because I probably haven't worn them in years. My friends and I have started an "inner circle" Freecycle and some of us even live across the country. We just reimburse each other for shipping. Then whatever is left over we just donate to a local women's shelter or the library (we trade TONS of books).

I will have to try the 80/20 thing, although Space Bags (from Big Lots - score!!!) have kept me from getting rid of some prized concert tshirts. Limited edition, man!

i agree with the ikea comments...but you gotta do what you gotta do! i love the constant color scheme going throughout; it doesnt make it seem overwhelmed by color and design. good job.

I hate doing dishes but bf can't stand having dishes in the sink (even though he won't wash them himself). So they'd usually stay there for days. Slowly but surely I am sucking it up and just washing them even if they aren't mine. But he's been so happy so that makes me happy. And the day before yesterday he was off of work and he did BOTH of our laundry and hung up all of my clothes (I hang EVERYTHING) and he even remembered which clothes I do not dry. I was blown away when I got home :) It really is the little things that go a long way.

I leave my front door open and the screen closed for the fresh air but my neighbor in the next building has a kitchen window that faces my front door and I always catch her STARING! It is so annoying. Why doesn't she come over and just say HELLO?
We've been here for two years already so I doubt she is trying to get interior decorating inspiration ;) because nothing much has changed.

@Motherbear I would be kind of offended if my boyfriend's mom took it upon herself to clean up our apartment but that's just me. whenever i am in the kitchen cooking she always makes little comments about how she chops garlic, seasons meals, etc. I'm like "ok thanks" and just continue to do my own thing.

as for leaving someone in my apartment, i couldn't do it. i don't care if it's my brother, mother, sister, cousin, or best friend - people are snoopy and sneaky! my boyfriend & his friends got drunk during the week (they work for an airline and their days off are midweek, i work mon - fri), and his friends had the following day off but both myself and bf had to work. his friends left their cars at the bar and wanted to stay over while we were at work. oh, bf rides a motorcycle so he couldn't take them to get their cars. i flipped out for 2 hours before they agreed to leave when bf left in the afternoon to work, and they would find something to do in the neighborhood until i came home from work (around 2 pm) i ended up getting sick in the morning anyway and they didnt have to leave but they left anyway and told me they had a ball walking around manhattan beach ;) they came back to the apartment with food for me and another 12 pk of beer.

the thought of someone alone here with my things is kind of unnerving! tl;dr
