If it's not on the registry it might be because they already have it. Please remember to keep the future parents in mind. Are they clueless and asking for advice and recommended items? Or are they planners? If they are planners, then I say stick to the registry. It might not be as much fun for you, but you'll by buying what the parents to be want rather than what you want to buy. Non-themed rooms rule! Woohoo! My mom was so disappointed when we told her that we weren't doing our nursery in a theme or specific color. If you really want/need to keep it, design with it, not against it.
