I live in Roslindale and love that we were compared to Park Slope! Thanks for a great shout out. Nice to know that other neighborhoods were considered beyond Back Bay/South End and Cambridge as viable (and awesome!!) living spots in Boston!

@Evan Jacobs- Plenty of residents in Rozzi as Pyewacket said. Not sure why everyone thinks it is so far- it takes me 17mins via train to get to South Station and I am only a ten minute bus ride from Forrest Hills (and when you have 15 buses at your disposal it isn't like you are waiting very long). Getting around is easy and it is so much more affordable than even JP (let alone comparing it to our neighbors in Brookline).

I have plenty of friends who live in Somerville and Cambridge who have much longer commutes than I do and pay out their ears to live in both locations. Now that Rozzi has just as many incredible restaurants as JP and most Cambridge neighborhoods, I see no reason to hate on it because of its locale.

Just sayin'!

The 1/2/3/6hr plug that Urban Girl is talking about is the Belkin:

I have one and love it. Great for everything from electric toothbrushes to cell phone chargers- anything that doesn't need to have power constantly without needing to unplug it!

I also have a Crane drop humidifier and love it. It has such a small footprint but can go for many hours without having to be refilled, far longer than 8hrs which is a plus! And cute colors to boot. Gotta love form and functionality in a small inexpensive package.

OK, that I think is not only genius, but so clever the way they hid it in the design! I wish my metal railings had one! Fun, thanks for sharing Regina!

Thanks everyone! I will call a carpenter to start to see what they suggest and see if they think it is possible to hang it on the wall (which would be ideal!) I'll keep everyone posted!

I really appreciate everyone's suggestions!

Actually, strangely enough that is his brother or cousin, and somehow they have the same name. Crazy! The Eddie I am referring to does own a second shop though behind the Stop and Shop at Porter (or is it a Shaws?) and is right next to a pest control shop. I always remember because when I stop by Eddie's shop there, I see the huge metal bug on the roof of the pest control shop!

Oh, I have heard that the Eddie who owns Metamorphosis also does upholstery too, so you might as well check both for prices :)

I am currently having a couch reupholstered by a man named Eddie who owns a series of second hand furniture stores in Cambridge (Sunshine Lucy's is the best well known shop). You can see how well his upholstery jobs look by checking out his furniture store. I was amazed at how reasonable his prices were (and I am having an 8ft couch redone!) and all he requires is that you purchase and bring in the fabric.

I don't know how often you use your chair, but I chose to have my couch done in a micro-suede fabric (my former couch was also micro-suede and I loved how easy it was to clean and the gorgeous colors it comes in). I bought my fabric online at Fabricdirect.com for $17 a yard which was a great deal in a gorgeous bright green called Avocado.

So many online fabric stores have gorgeous jewel tone colors, the possibilities are endless. I would suggest what JLAC7 said and send you to Zimmans in Lynn, but I find their prices to be outrageous on fabric unfortunately (especially cause the store is gorgeous and I love the fabrics they carry!)

Good luck with your upholstery project!! Please send photos of the chair once it is redone, I would love to know what you chose!

I only paid $50 for it so it was a steal, and it really probably isn't very valuable- it was made by the Eastman Furniture Co in Maryland in the 20s. However, I do think I will keep it for a long time so I don't mind working with it to find the best use for the time being.

Luckily the shelves all came out easily and without any trouble too!

Wow, thank you guys so much for all the comments! I was worried everyone would say "what a terrible idea!" and am pleased that you all think it is worth a shot :) I will definitely look into the faux frosted glass window film stuff. That could be perfect.

And @Tiamat, a part of me does think it is a bit sad at drilling a hole, but luckily it is a small hole and one day if needed I could replace the back of the cabinet or fill the hold with another small piece of wood. I plan on putting the hole at the bottom where the back of the cabinet meets the base so it isn’t like a huge gaping hole you would find in a regular TV armoire.

Also @ValHalla- yes, good suggestion! I hadn’t thought about the heat as a possible issue but I appreciate you bringing it up. I will definitely leave the doors open after watching the TV.

I have also seen some amazing wrapping paper that could be used (a la Young House Love) so I may play around with both. I believe this will be my weekend project!

I may try one door of each, and will send in the photos to let you all see what you think is best if one doesn’t stand out as the obvious choice. And regardless, I will send in photos once it is done so you all can see how it turned out!

Thanks again everyone! This is exactly why I love AT :)

Liz here: you guys are all awesome and thanks for the responses! I have thought a birdbath/birdfeeder combo would be awesome (especially since I have two!) and might clean them up and use it for that purpose.

Although, ironically I have a passion for vintage ashtrays (even though I don't smoke!) so maybe I will split the usage: one on the porch as an ashtray and one in the yard for the birds!

Thanks everyone!!
