omg, these as cupcakes in ice cream cones is a FANTASTIC idea!

anyone make it using good ol oil/eggs instead of the soda? Is soda needed to make it hold the dye better or give it a certain texture?

I love the salt and pepper pretzels. Years ago Newman's Own also did ice cream and it was AMAZING. mint chip was incredible.

Not sure why they stopped doing it...I wish they'd bring it back!

pesto. every time I make it, I end up overworking it and lose the basil flavor...it just ends up metallic tasting.

I do, however, make an excellent frittata. :)

you can usually adjust the distance from the heat, so things needn't burn.

alton brown once pointed out that a broiler is an upside down grill. Once he said that, I started to use it a lot more often.

My favorite salad has greens, roasted beets, sliced fresh peaches, and feta. The saltiness of the feta with the sweet peaches and earthy beets is just perfect to me. I usually toss in some torn and toasted pita and maybe some fresh basil and corn if I have it on hand.

Dressing can be simple: basic vinaigrette for me usually.

I love it in a salad. It's lemony.

Here's the annoying thing: I have a fairly happy home. It's a comment people often use when visiting.

And I would consider entering this contest, except that the happiness here was in no way inspired by Jonathan Adler.

Would be nice if they could encourage original ideas.

I also really like the Seeds of Changes sauces, particularly the Jafrezi. Very tasty.

We're also into the Jyoti brand that comes in cans (we love chicken simmered in their saag) but it's incredibly high in sodium, so we try not to do it too often.

Ikea fabric is totally amazing. Upholstery weight for under $10/yard! And check their curtain stock, too: often very nice designs, and they stock them extra long, so you get about 9 yards of fabric.

But if you see something you like, buy it, because they often change patterns every year.

I've had a full page ad for his show of plant drawings on my "inspiration board" since I ripped it out of some magazine (art forum, maybe?) many years ago. Wish they'd put a year as part of the date on these things!

we were all about the everclear where I went to college. **shudder**.

after college, a good friend bought me 3 small bottles to help start my "liquor cabinet" as a housewarming present when I moved to her neighborhood: kahlua, dewars and...I think peach schnapps?

Believe it or not, I think I still have that bottle of dewars. And this gift was given in 1992.

I also tried the cooked radishes recently (though I roasted mine) and count me in with the converts!

NB: I roasted watermelon radishes that were on the large side, so I quartered them and am happy to report that they weren't woody and retained their beautiful hot pink color. They were delicious--I tossed them with soy sauce just before the last 5 minutes of roasted and it made a lovely glaze, perfect with the quick tilapia recipe from this site.
