Is this house on Kirkwood by any chance? Because if it is, then this is my husband's old place. I love what you've done with the white and the simplicity...I have seen it look not as nice. :)

I highly recommend getting a carbon monoxide detector. Just last week my husband and I installed our new nest thermostat (which is a rad little contraption) when it got cold one night and the thinking thermostat clicked on the heat for us. At five a.m. our carbon monoxide detector goes off. I was hoping it was just the battery telling us it was low but it was the actual alarm. I grab the three dogs and head outside, while he calls the fire dept. Luckily, it was just a small amount detected and were able to go back inside after they flushed the house. I still love our new thermostat but now it looks like it's time for a new hvac too. I'm glad this was just a little scare, but without the detector we would have never known when it wasn't so little.

I like his house. I applaud his bold moves and the reclaimed approach, but his restaurant Papi Tino's has an even cooler appeal to it. Damn, I love my city.

I used to live in the Castile Apartments! It is, indeed a very inviting location. Loved the courtyard! I do hope you're enjoying the walkability of that neighborhood.

Thank you for this. I have a Boxer who is crate trained but bottle fed which pretty much cancels each other out. We're beginning to run and pay more attention to said destructo dog but the window sill is long digested. I will certainly give this idea a shot.

...And it's nice to know there are others who come home to a new project as often as I do. :)

I love it here in Austin! Thanks for the post! It also reminds me to stop longing for faraway beaches and get to the waterin' holes down the street. But don't forget the people! I'm a Texas native and I've traveled a bit and lived in other parts of the country but the "Southern" hospitality and the friendly people always brought me back home. Most people here still hold open doors for strangers and offer a 'bless you' to your sneezes. Great town, decent people, and hot as hell.

When visiting Costa Rica, I discovered an invasive crab population during their 'travel' season. They were all over the place, inside and out. Granted they didn't harm you unless you got pinched by trying to pick them up or stepping on them....Luckily my husband and I stayed on the second floor of the hotel but the people below us were not so lucky. The best part was watching the charade that ensued when the other patrons were trying to convince the hotel they wanted to change rooms because of their unwanted 'visitors' without knowing English or Spanish to describe the crabs. The hand motions of pincers finally got through to the front desk.

Lovely place! I'm curious as to where you found the Corona couch in dark grey. The Macy's here in Austin, only sells it in beiges, brown, and green. I've been looking everywhere for one in grey! Tell me your secrets...

ps your dog looks like a bundle of fun!

My husband and I began our home ownership with a push mower and our laziness got the best of us. The yard quickly got out of control thus was very difficult to mow with just man power. We then received a refurbished version of this mower as a gift and never looked back. The only problem we had was a short battery life so we called customer service and got it replaced for no charge at all. And I'm serious when I say this mower purrs.

I have an eight month old boxer amongst the other two very small mongrels in my house. He was "abandoned" at birth so I bottle raised him....needless to say I didn't have his tail docked so anything and everything on my coffee table is fair game for tail ball. He's the reason I keep my house tidy. Just as he shoved his way into our hearts, he's also made his way onto our 40 year old love seat.

Zinger is our neighborhood hardware store! My husband and I bought two of the red Adirondack chairs and are proudly displaying them in our back yard. Now if I can only wrestle my boxer off of them so I can lounge!

Cute stuff, I don't have children but I do have some of his sale pillows, which I love. I'd consider putting that lion rug in my office any day. But on an unrelated note...does anyone else getting the Nuva Ring birth control ad after showing Jonathan's new designs for children find that as funny as I do. Hilarious.
