My toaster oven has no digital display, and it's our microwave so it stays plugged in. The only other thing I don't unplug is my senseo and there's no digital display on that. I had been unplugging it, but I'd forget and then stumble about for a bit and get irritated after a few minutes when I remember (same thing happened with the toaster oven). My boyfriend always unplugs his espresso machine and burr grinder after he uses them though. My mixer is the only other thing that has a permanent home on the counter and it gets unplugged after being used. Everything else is put away after being used. Trader Joe's is not worth driving that far for. No way. I drive almost 45 miles one way to get to Whole Foods, and there's a TJ's near by. I gave it a try when I got back hoping that it had changed a little bit. It hadn't. The produce at TJ's does not have the same quality as WFs does, nor do they have a comparable organic selection. It's tiny, and I don't like feeling like cattle being shuffled through their check-out stands. Would You Pay Someone To Drive 253 Miles For Groceries? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

Toaster oven. It's our microwave and toaster in one. Especially after I managed to make a new bottle of balsamic vinegar explode into our nice toaster. I like making grilled cheese for my girls without having to use the stove or butter to get it crispy. :) Toaster or Toaster Oven: Which Do You Prefer? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I have a Canon PowerShot (I've had it for nearly 3 years), but I want a Nikon D90 in the worst way. I use my macro setting often and try and use as much daylight as I can, which isn't always easy since most of my baking takes place in the evenings after my kids are in bed. :P What Is a Good Entry-Level Camera for Food Photography? Honestly it depends. The way it's done in that picture, no. When it truly blends in and is flush then I think it's neat. Though I'm proud of our french door Amana fridge and would never hide it. ;) Hot or Not? Appliances Disguised as Cabinetry | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I aim for 2 times a year, or what really ends up happening .... I get tired of how my pantry is set up or how my family has put stuff back in there. I pull everything out and set it on the kitchen table and the washer and dryer (I have a laundry room/pantry combo) and then reorganize it and check the dates as I go. That happens more than twice a year. ;) How Often Should I Clean Out My Pantry? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

Wow. I posted the video on my blog. It's very much worth sharing and will go into my bank of videos and movies on the subject of food and how we're killing ourselves. Jamie Oliver's TED Talk: Teach Kids About Food | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

My boyfriend just got to go up to the Amazon Fresh facility (he's an Amazon associate) and he was telling me all about it. I so wish I had something like that locally, but we don't. Survey: Do You Use an Online Grocery Service? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

You know, I think if you don't have a huge dinner plate then it's really not an issue. We have Corelle dishes that we got and the "dinner plates" are more like our serving platters. We use the smaller plate as our meal time plates. I don't see the harm in not leaving food on your plate. It's more what you put on your plate than anything. That and I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. We do not load up their plates, and the concept would be lost on them anyhow. Not that I want to have to explain to my 5 year old why I expect her to eat what she's given while I throw away food on my plate. Self control should start with the serving spoon. I know for a fact that I need to work on that myself. ;) Conscientious Eater: Leaving Food On the Plate | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |
