Mine come from antique shops, so who knows where they came from. I keep silica packets (from shoes) on top of the books and that helps a little.

I sleep with a few hundred books, many from the 1930s. If I didn't have to, I wouldn't. The mildew smell is horrible and makes my room feel stuffy.

Just make sure your window itself is straight before doing this, otherwise you'll end up with a horribly crooked curtainrod. When I was installing my new curtainrod I measured off of my windows. Once everything was in place the right side was a few inches higher than the left! I found that I have to measure down from my ceiling instead. Thankfully my curtains hide the extra holes.

I'll definitely not be doing this unless I happen to live in San Francisco in the future. Until then, Michigan winters are just too cold. I keep my apartment at 73 during the day and 69-70 at night. Even then I'm constantly wearing a million layers.

This would be a great replacement for my cheap IKEA duvet that keeps ripping.

I wouldn't mind if this toaster smelled like an electrical fire (like my current one) because it's gorgeous!

I'm surprised FritoLay is discontinuing the bag until a new one is created. Why not continue to sell until then?

But as someone with hearing problems/loss, the excessive loudness of the SunChips bags is more than a petty problem.

I would love to line-dry outside, but allergies are a big problem in my family. Since no one likes to be constantly sneezing or smell like the neighbor's dog, we hang our laundry in the basement. It's a perfect solution, saves money, and helps our clothing last longer.

I love your studio. It reminds me of the attics in old detective stories. Full of fantasy and treasures. Yours is definitely the most inspiring workspace I have ever seen.
