The Breville looks nice but as others have mentioned the fact that it doesn't have any accessory ports makes it a nonstarter for me. Why not take a look at the 800 watt 5.5 quart Cuisinart SM-55? The Cuisinart seems to include all the features of both the KitchenAid and Breville besides the carrying handle. Plus, the Cuisinart allows for more attachments than any other mixer I've seen. You don't have to worry about your Chemex breaking using this method. Chemex pots are made from a type of glass called borosilicate. Borosilicate is the same type of glass used in laboratory glassware and what Pyrex branded kitchenware was made from prior to Corning's divestment. I also have my doubts about the effect on flavor that a stainless steel sieve can have when compared to paper but I'm not a coffee expert. I imagine the paper might absorb some of the compounds found in coffee in a manner similar to chromatography but again, I'm no expert. Reinventing Coffee: A Visit With Coava & Their Kone Filter |

@theEwafe Actually, iodine/iodide isn't an anticaking agent. The additive that is almost universally used in the US and EU is sodium aluminosilicate (E554). Take a look at http://j.mp/hZQ3fe for a bit information. Curious Cooks: Why Is Table Salt Iodized? |

When making ice cream sans the machine I prefer liquid nitrogen route. Though, it probably has less to do with the ice cream and more to do with my getting to play with liquid nitrogen. Ice Cream Without an Ice Cream Maker: The Bag Method |

I had some amazing homemade Apple Pear Cardamom Butter a number of years back. I wish I knew the name of the book that the woman who made it got the recipe for it out of. From the Spice Cupboard: Cardamom | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

Great video. One thing that I find makes disassembling a chicken easier is to use a boning knife instead of a santoku or chefs. The thinner blade makes following the keel bone (aka breast bone) easier. How To Cut Up a Chicken: The Video Home Hacks | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |
