The paint styling could be used with effect on ghastly trailer paneling-the curse of students, retirees, and lower-income workers. Love this!

I'd love to see a post on slide-out or fold-out shelving which can be used to augment closet, armoire, or kitchen office space, or metal adjustable shelving for small spaces.

If you have dust allergies, take an antihistamine a couple of hours before the sale and carry tissues. Always take a tape measure and pocket screwdrivers, in case you have to uninstall a lamp or shelf, and so you don't purchase an item which won't fit in the car or anywhere else.

Eating squirrel is quite common in Appalachia. You could try sauteed squirrel with gravy, BBQ squirrel (gut it, burn off the fur, and smoke it) or Cherokee squirrel with bean dumplings.

I could live well in 350 sf, especially if 50=screened porch. Easy on the utility bills and, with built-ins, it could be easy to clean.

Aren't straw clay walls prone to mildew in a damp climate or during times the house isn't air-conditioned?

They are pretty, though.

Underbed storage is far from ideal for allergy sufferers. The enclosed space creates ideal conditions for mildew spores and dust mites. Vacuum bags double-packed in sealed plastic bins will moderate the problem.

Lifelong cheapskate says: Be very scared of deep-discount batteries. They are prone to leakage and will ruin your possessions. The two main guys, Sears, and astonishingly Dollar General batteries, work well. I've had no leak problems with any of them. On the other hand, Panasonic and the Save-A-Lot house brands are flashlight killers.

Run your AC at an energy-saver setting all night and keep a high-powered fan pointed at your bed. Get up just before sunrise, turn the AC off or turn it back until the thermostat cuts it off, and then open every window in the house. Leave windows open until an hour after sunrise, then close them and close all the blinds, shades, and curtains. Then turn your AC up to its normal setting, where the thermostat will not activate the compressor until the house heats up. Depending on where you live and how many shade trees you have, that compressor might sleep until 1PM or after.
I also keep bubble wrap on any windows which do not have a view, and old-fashioned roller shades over those for insulation.

Any thief which would steal electronics may well steal the power strip. I do love diversion safes, though--as long as they're not on eBay and therefore open to the scrutiny of burglars.

Nothing here will protect you from the determined thief. I work in a field where social networking is unnecessary, but someone put a page on LinkedIn in my name, with cyberbullying-type misinformation but my actual e-mail address. Luckily, an old business acquaintance found it and took it down.

For around $3.99, you can purchase a whole pack of hair rollers which look exactly like a small Cable Clam, and work great on earbud cords.
Red leaf lettuce, in this area, arrives in the store tied into a bundle with a cable-wrap style tape. It's grayish-white and printed, but it's free with that delectable salad green.

Leave the fireplace as is--if you have to sell the house, it probably will be loved by another Arts and Crafts enthusiast.
Why not strip the oak and glass-pane cabinets, use the same dark oak finish as in the rest of the house's woodwork, and find replacement hardware from a renovations specialist? The metal and particle board sink cabinets can be left as is, or repainted creatively.

I'm an old flea marketer, and gossip benches/telephone tables always were hot sellers. Stereo consoles were repurposed as blanket chests, with small posters or cool fabric set into the speaker housings, and pre-1950's models make great bar cabinets. I've even seen an old Victrola case lined with mirrors and velvet for an etagere. China cabinets don't sell well, make good bookcases but e-books will make that obsolete.
I used an Art Nouveau sewing cabinet for floppy disk storage and then repurposed it into a vanity. A 1960's model is the ideal size for my boss's printer table. In old houses with scarce closet space, those TV armoires will be prized for storage.
My suggestion on CD towers is to turn them sideways, mount them on the toolroom or garage wall, and slot tools and hardware into them.

Second the tutorial on the dropleaf table and cabinet. This looks as though it could be built in between wall studs, or constructed as a free-standing unit. You could augment your income with Internet sales of plans for building this item.

It's a great bed, but I sure do hope that you reinforced that split left leg before you assembled everything. I've had two store-bought wooden bed rails split and fall apart, and the bruises from rolling onto the floor at 4AM are a genuine pain in the rear and many adjacent areas.
