It appears we're on the same street in Frederick! :) Love your house. It's absolutely as gorgeous on the inside as it is on the outside. Living so close by, it turns out that my husband and I walk by that way pretty much daily. You've done a fabulous job. It makes me want to see other people on our street's houses too!

Leah, glad you're liking it! Anyone interested in downtown should stop by Saturday evening. On the first Saturday of every month the shops stay open late and we all hang out. It's a great way to see Frederick.

If I were you, I'd make that fireplace the focal point of my living area, not the tv stand. Perhaps some clever rearranging could help? I agree, get a mantle (not just a shelf).

Thanks for the note/heads up. This is my first time hearing about that area.

On another note, if all of those things you mentioned about why you like Mt. Rainier are true (vibrant, friendly, unpretentious!), then you will absolutely adore Frederick, MD. :)

What about Spain?

I really like that last photo. The colorful chairs and those sconces are just perfect.

You have to discover it, buy it, ship it to your property, put it back together, and then finally bring it back to life. That's a lot of work! It looks awesome though.

Move! Why be miserable? Get some friends to help out and buy them beer and pizza.

But what can I do with all the wine screw caps I've saved?

Putting a hold on mail is the best thing ever. They just hold it at the Post Office until you get home.

I also clean out the fridge, we usually really deep clean the house too. My husband hates coming home to a house with chores, and as I much as I hate having to fit in cleaning while packing, I always agree how nice it is once we get home.

I'm considering getting a timer so that we can have a lamp or two come on during evening hours.
