Sugar is almost half of the quantity so omitting it would probably be a mistake if you use the same technique. That amount of rub without the sugar would be seriously overpowering.
If you want it without as much spice I'd use ancho instead of chipotle and replace the cayenne with a generic chili powder or something like guajillo powder if you can find it (or just cut the cayenne in half).

Steam them first and leave them on a rack or tray uncovered in the refrigerator so the skin drys out (this can be done the night before). Then just crisp them up in the oven at 450. It should only take 15-20 min.

I would think a slow cooker would do better with a thigh than a breast. The white meat gets dried out too quickly for braising.

I think I may buck tradition a bit and go with a couple of buffalo turkey wings this year.

I make a fairly standard bread, apple, and sausage stuffing, but my secret ingredient is slightly crushed Ritz crackers.

caseoftornados is right, Skip the rack and use whole carrots, celery stalks and quartered onions under the turkey. I use a 9x13 pyrex baking dish or a 12" cast iron skillet for all of my roasting and skip the roasting pan too. The probe thermometer is also a great idea if you don't have one.

I've been cold brewing for a while now. I started out with a toddy, but after making a giant mess of my kitchen twice I threw it in the garbage. I just use a big Tupperware container and soak 2 parts water with one part course ground coffee for 12-24 hours and strain through a tea towel. You can also add another 1 part water back to the brewed grounds and soak for another 4-8 hours and strain again. It keeps for a couple weeks but starts to go downhill after the first week. I mix about 2:1 milk to coffee over ice. Also in a pinch if I don't feel like turning on the espresso machine in the morning I'll mix 1:1 with hot water for a passable cup of hot coffee.

I have all three, food processor, blender an an immersion blender. The blender gets the least amount of use in my kitchen. I'd say the other two are about equal but if I had to have only one it would be the immersion blender especially if you can find one of the ones with a small "food processor" attachment.

I'd avoid the term "boiled" that to me indicates bland, mushy, and flavorless. Braised or maybe poached artichokes with italian vinaigrette (or preferably white wine, or red wine, or balsamic, champagne... vinaigrette).

I'd say creamed corn (with a little sugar added) or go ahead and grill it and make some Mexican street corn, slathered in mayo or mexican crema, some cotija or parmesan cheese, chili powder and lime wedges.

When I was a kid I LOVED corn on the cob. We had a decent sized garden and had probably 30 or so corn stalks, and there was nothing better than corn that was picked 2 minutes before boiling. If however my mom cut it off the cob I refused to eat it.

I've heard nothing but bad things about the cheaper faucet mount Pur and Brita filters. Leaking, cracking, breaking... Just bad plasticy cheaply made stuff all around. I'm sticking with the pitcher filters (Brita) for a good cheap solution.

I used to have a Toddy that I used for iced coffee. It made a complete mess every time I used it and was a general pain to deal with. Then I realized I could just get a big pitcher, dump in the grounds, stir in the water and let it sit for 12-24 hours before straining it through a tea towel. Duh.

Also there is a good chance that beans in the bulk bins at the store have been there for a long time. You are better off buying it in bags and either vacuum sealing and freezing it them or just storing in airtight containers like mason jars.

One thing to remember is that you can't just bring home an induction cook top or range and plug it in to replace whatever you have in most cases. They usually require a 50 amp breaker and most homes don't have the wiring to accommodate a 50 amp circuit so you have to have new wiring run from the breaker panel which adds considerably more to the cost.
