Yum! I prepared phyllo cups with panna cotta in them - far less healthy than these with yogurt. I typically shy away from phyllo, but just making the cups was relatively easy. You can see my review and a picture on cookbooker.

If choosing to replace regular sugar for superfine, be aware that the superfine packs in tighter. That is, 1 C superfine will weigh more than 1 C regular sugar. So adjustments must be made. That said, I think superfine is really only needed for the rare recipe, as katefromfoodfromourlife said.

We have the Kohler Cimarron comfort height. Love it, except that my 13 yr old daughter now always uses the toilet in my bathroom.

The puffed amaranth candies that each street kiosk sells are amazing. The ones labeled "chocolate" don't look dark enough to have real chocolate flavors, so I only bought one - but eating it at home was amazing. I've been scouring my local hispanic markets trying to find it here, but with no luck.

Mexico city was amazing - you'll have a great time. We spent one week in April and totally loved it. Next time, I'm including Taxco!

That huge sink really helps to protect the wood countertops by keeping the water away. I love it - and I wonder if you can still find really wide sinks like that!

Its an interesting concept.
But most plants don't like heat on their roots, and most lights don't like water around their electrical parts - so it doesn't seem like such a good combination to me.

Mexican all the way. Not only is it cinco de Mayo, but cookbooker is having a Mexican Food challenge - how many recipes from Rick Bayless's Mexican Kitchen can you review? If you are one of 3 winners, you even get a cookbook. Last night I made chicken tacos with swiss chard, and tonight its Roasted Poblano Crema with Mexican Greens (soup).

I was starting to get excited about eating worms....

but seriously - you are all right - Mark Bittman, in How to cook everything vegetarian - was the first place that really explained (to me) how to caramelize onions. Don't add oil too soon - dry heat till they start to stick. Best guide on how to prepare onions ever.

The soil has a huge reservoir of seeds, and the key here is not to create the conditions that allow that reservoir to germinate. The effort at the beginning - removing those seeds already at the top (and as @veslabeachgirl notes, blow in) is time consuming - plus if you have to dig out roots, you inevitably create the conditions that promote (weed) seed germination. After 11 yrs of a xeriscape, I'm now removing most of the plants that self seed or are aggressive spreaders. And I've resigned to a month of weekends each spring.

I love the look of concrete, and hope to remodel my kitchen this year. But probably I will go with soapstone or slate instead of concrete, for all the issues mentioned above. I don't care for shiny countertops, and there do not seem to be many matte options.

Having lived in my house for 12 years and traveled to many continents, I wish my house looked half as nice as these pictures. Its constantly in a state of flux (hence my lurking here). Thanks for a useful and inspiring post. And count yet another "yes" for loony family photos.

I try to not get upset at all those things beyond my control. But I do get mad at myself - usually for forgetting the one thing that made me drive to the store in the first place!

Hmm, I must be in a patient mood today - all those other things usually piss me off - all of 'em!

An even bigger issue is how prepare your garden for the plant, and how well you match it. Unlike animals, plants can recover from a poor early seedlinghood.

Someone wise once counseled to put a $10 plant in a $100 hole (not a $100 plant in a $10 hole). A large hole, appropriately amended, and in the lighting conditions preferred by that plant will quickly allow a sad plant to catch up.

And for @pestle - a flowering plant has not only put energy into making the flowers, but if they are fertilized might shift all its energy investment into seed production. But if you cannot help yourself (thats me sometimes), just be sure to cut off the spent flowers.

faux taxidermy dates back at least to Picasso, whose toro (bicycle seat and handlebars) is a classic that my DH replicated for our house; similar ones can be purchased at this ETSY store. (I've no relationship to this store, other than a similar love of picasso).

Weight conversions for baking! I know the all purpose flour conversion, but just last night I was wishing for some meaningful way to measure my compacted powdered sugar!

I'd also like to learn about how custard sets up. Some are easy - panna cotta - but flan is very tricky, and my best friend recently had a goat's milk dulce de leche fail. Why? or maybe a better question is why they even work in the first place!

This is a great idea, by the way, although I also enjoy your weekly themes.

Lovely... and it does feel like a blink of an eye for my baby girl to become 13. Life is precious, and treasure every moment.

I especially love the mouth - all the ideas and thoughts this young lady is sharing. Thanks.

I like 'em high, but not so much wide. My house is "blessed" with so many windows that I'd have almost no wall space for art if the curtains were extra wide.
