many thanks for this great and very informative article. As for buying vintage again, I have bought it in the past and I find that because my space is so limited (I live in a 99 square foot living/working studio in a residence) a wrong choice of furniture can be extremely upsetting. Before I do anything at all I would like to buy the services of an interior designer to create the room setting so that I would have a plan for buying and not just go for individual pieces. I just read the history of Apartment Therapy and I like the idea of buying the services of an interior designer by the hour to, for instance, just do a map of a room with actual furniture and prices that I could collect a little at a time when the money comes in.

I live ina really small space so my source of inspiration is a small room in an ivory tower. 1. The first thing I would like to do is get substitute my flowered drapes for a really castle like pair of red velvet drapes.
2. replace my old black bookcase with a new chocolate brown one from the EQ3 furniture store down the street (to keep in the same color scheme for the room)
3.change my framed artwork every season
4.find a plastic liner for my bamboo basket|recylcling bin so theres no more plastic bag rim
5. have my new mirror hung up on the wall
6. don't do too much multitasking

I now sleep on a twin size mattress. Pending future funding, I wonder if I would stay with the highest quality twin size (and tighter sleeping space) or a murphy bed with a queen size. I mean do you get as good a sleep on a twin or is just a temporary solution.

When I got a new Sealy Posturpedic the salesman said that you have to buy the two parts (it looks like two mattresses but the bottom has the legs) to benefit from it. That was important since the Sealy posturpedic is pretty expensive. IT made for a pretty firm mattress that took a few days to get used to but made me feel much better.

They say that if you want a healthy back you need an excellent mattress. I have been brought up to swear by Sealy Posterpedic. Still I am very interested in the results of your research.
