We have a family tradition where we do hotpot every year for New Years Eve. My parents, my husband and our kids, and my sister and her husband. We all eat dinner together starting around 7 p.m. and going until we are absolutely stuffed, then people disperse to their various parties, but we start off together and always have a great time.

For the adults, serve hot mulled wine. It's made our house the hit of the trick or treat route. Just buy a box of red wine, pour it into your crockpot and add your favorite mulling spices. We like cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, a bit of anise and nutmeg. Serve it in little dixie cups. Trick or Treat for the grownups.

I have 10. For a while there, I had two kids in cribs at the same time. I don't layer, but I do "double up". When I make the bed, I put a mattress pad and a sheet on the mattress, then I flip it over and repeat on the other side. That way if we need to do a quick change in the middle of the night, I just strip the sheets off one side and flip the mattress over.

I had thought 3 for each kid would be sufficient, and then we had the stomach bug from hell. ;)

My kids adore scrambled eggs. They also love what we call "eggs and rice", which is fried rice without soy sauce. Just cook some rice, put it in a frying pan, add some veggies and toss around 'till hot then crack in eggs. It's always a big hit.

I always put curry powder and cashews in my chicken salad, oh and often curry powder in my oven-fried chicken. So yummy!

Those are shrimp, not crawfish, and you forgot to mention the beer in the recipe. You have to add about 1/2 a beer to the liquid when you make BBQ shrimps. The other 1/2 goes to the cook of course.

I make my own during Passover, because the pesadicka stuff is awful, or when we run out. Otherwise it's Hellman's all the way.

I have to admit, homemade tastes better though. :)

If you can break into the marker, you pull out the foam insert and stick it in a bottle of elmer's glue. Tada, colored glue! Useful in a variety of destructive ways. Just ask my 6th grade teacher. ;)

Brown the chicken and set in a warm oven to keep at temp.

Add one chopped onion, and a couple cloves of crushed garlic to the pan. Sautee until translucent.

Add in a (drained) can of artichoke hearts and black olives. Cook off the excess liquid. Sprinkle in a Tablespoon of flour. Stir until you can't see white anymore.

Add in a cup or two of decent white wine to make a sauce. Put the chicken back into the sauce and veggie goodness.

Simmer, covered, until the chicken is done.

Serve with pasta or rice and a colorful green salad. YUM.

The Pioneer Woman's Restaurant Style Salsa is what you are looking for. Really. It's super yummy and just like the salsas at your local generic taco joint. http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/01/restaurant-style-salsa/

I get a load going in the dishwasher straight away, and do one run though (fill the drain board) of hand washing. Then the next morning if I'm lucky my husband finishes up the dishes, or I face the daunting task myself. I detest waking up to dirty dishes though. :(

We dropped off my 2 and 3 year old kids at a friend's 3 year old party about 2 months ago.

This is their 7th child and all the older siblings were there helping out. The next youngest in age is 9.

They specifically told all the parents that it was a drop off party, but we were the only ones who left. We walked to a nearby coffee shop and had actual grown up conversation. It was GREAT!

Oh, both of our kids are potty trained, so that may have been an influencing factor.

As others said, don't put a lid on the pot! Oh, and stir it with a wooden spoon, not plastic or metal. It helps keep foam-overs down.
