My only tv is in the bedroom--I like to watch Golden Girls before I go to bed (for me that show works better than a sleeping pill). I use my living room for reading. I have a collection of "good" books in my shelves but I get my trashy lit fix from my local library. Recently at a party a guest asked if I was trying to "prove a point" by not having a tv in my living room.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for six years and about a year ago I realized that I didn’t really know that much about neighborhoods outside my own. So my new favorite weekend-getaway is to Priceline a local hotel and spend two days getting to know an area of Los Angeles. So far I’ve “visited” downtown LA, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood—my next neighborhood is Pasadena. It’s great--I’ve eaten at restaurants I never would have otherwise found and stumbled onto some really great little shops. I make an effort to visit local attractions and museums—I guess I’m a local tourist. Some hotels are better than others but it’s all part of the adventure and I’ve gotten some good design ideas from some of them.
