Looks like a good idea and all but according to that site there is no farms, csas, markets or anything in the whole state of Mississippi.Another one of those sites only useful for people in the more populated areas of the country.

Wow,I applaud you.Way to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. You have my respect.

Now with that being said I do wonder what it says about the sustainability of local farms and CSAs if after 20 years the farm you gave to still needs charity to survive.

OK,the comment spammers are really getting bad.How long till we are subjected to porn in the comments?
I think the site owners should implement a CAPTCHA authentication system.
I for one will not mind typing a couple more things when I comment if it means stopping this spam.

While that Presso looks nice,$150 seems very high for what it does.Especially when you consider an AeroPress does the same thing for $20.

Gotta say toaster oven,it is just so useful. Most uses have already been mentioned but here is one more:
My house has some heating problems and the kitchen is very cold in the mornings so while I am cooking I use the toaster oven to keep things warm while finish cooking.
Heat the plates up as well.

You know I used to watch Antiques Roadshow all the time. And people used to bring in plates, every so often they would have a crack in them from being bound by the wire hangers for so many years. The expert would "tsk, tsk" the people for using the wire.Altho I do not recall them ever offering an alternative.
Moral, don't use wire hangers if your plate is valuable.

I am curious,a few are saying you only buy from local farmers. But what about the stuff that isn't available locally?
Mangos come to mind,I love'em,they are not going to be growing those in my area.
Guess who does have them? And at a good price to.
That is just one example I sure every region has lots of stuff not available to them locally.Fact is the food industry is now a global entity. There are huge farms in this country and all the others dedicated to providing cheap food to the world. Not just Bob and Sue down the road.
Now I am not saying the local farmer doesn't have his place. But so does Wal-Mart.

I heard recently that the fresher an egg is, the tighter the "white" is to the yolk. This helps the egg stay together better in the water. So the fresher the egg the better for poaching.
I am not sure if it's true, someone should do some experimenting....Not me,I hate poached eggs, lol

Aww,come on,a small kitchen is hardly a reason not to have a slow cooker!
The thing is practically the same size as a dutch oven.Hell, put it in the hall closet when your not using it.Mine sits on top of refrigerator.

@JMD Small electric ovens that made to sit on the counter top. They are very useful when you want to heat/cook certain things without firing up your big oven in the stove.

They are great at reheating things,I like to microwave the food a bit first then put them in the toaster oven to finish.

For a quick fix,I use my George Foreman grill.Just sprinkle fillet with Old Bay and pop it on the pre-heated grill.
Just DON'T close the lid! Flip the fillet instead.
Easy-peasy.
